Using multi-factor authentication

This information explains the setup process and describes the experience for ONESOURCE users when your organization turns on multi-factor authentication (MFA).
When you sign in to the ONESOURCE Platform, you'll see one of 2 prompts:
  • After MFA is turned on, the system guides you as a 1st time user logging in to configure your device.
  • After completing your initial device setup, the system guides you to approve your sign-in using your device.

Add a device

When you sign in to ONESOURCE for the 1st time, you'll receive a prompt to set up MFA for your account.
  1. Select
    Get Started
    .
  2. Select
    Choose
    , then open the app store link for your device.
  3. Follow the instructions to install the
    Thomson Reuters Authenticator
    app on your device.
  4. Once the Thomson Reuters Authenticator installation completes, open the app on your device.
  5. Select
    Scan QR Code
    .
    A QR code displays on your computer screen.
  6. Use the
    Thomson Reuters Authenticator
    app to scan the QR code. You will see a
    Pairing Successful
    message on your device.
  7. Select
    Got It
    .
    The
    Pairing Successful
    screen displays. You can edit the name of the multi-factor option.
  8. Select
    Finish
    .
    You have now connected your device to your ONESOURCE user account. The system signs you in and takes you to the homepage.
Approve subsequent logins
After initial setup, you'll receive a prompt to approve the sign-in to ONESOURCE.
  1. When you see the Multi-factor Authentication message, get your device.
  2. Select
    Approve
    on your device.
    You have now approved your device. The system signs you in and takes you to the homepage.

Use a code to sign in

If you don't have your phone or don't want to use the
Approve
button, you can also use a code to sign in. Administrators can send a code to you to give 24-hour access to ONESOURCE or generate 10 one-time emergency codes.
Use an emergency code from your administrator
  1. Before you want to sign in, contact your Administrator. The Administrator creates a code and sends it to you.
  2. Enter your username and password to sign in.
  3. Select
    enter a code
    on the Thomson Reuters screen.
  4. Enter the code sent to you by the Administrator in the code field.
  5. Select
    Go
    to open the platform.
Generate your own emergency code
  1. Select
    My Settings
    in the dropdown under your name in ONESOURCE.
  2. Select
    Multi-factor Authentication
    .
  3. Select
    Generate Codes
    . The system generates 10 one-time use only codes.
  4. Select
    Print Codes
    for a hard copy or select
    Copy
    to save the codes to your clipboard for future use.
    note
    Each time you generate a new set of codes all previous codes are invalid.

Change your device

You can only have 1 device at a time connected with your ONESOURCE user account. Remove the current device and set up a new one using the following steps.
  1. Select your user profile name called
    My Account
    , then
    My Settings
    .
  2. Select
    Multi-factor Authentication
    . You'll see the device connected with your account.
  3. Select
    Remove Device
    .
  4. Sign out of ONESOURCE, and then sign in again.
