Reviewing Information Specific to Form 990-N e-postcard
Exempt organizations that are required to file an annual information return with the IRS but that do not meet the filing threshold for Form 990 or 990-EZ can file Form 990-N e-postcard. Using ONESOURCE Trust Tax, you can:
- Review, enter or update information specific to Form 990-N. The first year you use ONESOURCE Trust Tax, you will need to enter the 990-N information. Each subsequent year, you can review and update the information as necessary.
- E-file Forms 990-N with the IRS using the same e-filing process used for federal 1041 returns and other 990 return types. See E-Filing Federal and State Returns and Remitting Balance Due Payments for details. Form 990-N e-postcard must be submitted electronically. There is no paper form. The IRS does not accept amended Form 990-Ns. Corrections and updates must be made on the following year's Form 990-N.
To review, enter or update information specific to Form 990-N e-postcard:
- Open the 990 account.
- Select theTax Review-990topic. TheForm 990-Nsubtopic is selected and the Form 990-N page displays by default.
- Review the information in each field then enter or update the information as necessary. The required fields include:
- TheOrganization is not a 509(a)(3) and its gross receipts are not normally more than $50,000 (Required information)check box. Selecting this check box provides the confirmation that the organization's annual gross receipts are normally $50,000 or less.
- TheDid the organization terminate during the year (Required information)drop-down list. SelectingNoindicates that the organization did not terminate during the year. Selecting Yes indicates that the organization has terminated or is terminating.
- Use the grid to enter or update the name, address and title for the principal officer. Completing the other fields in the grid is optional.
