Using the LS3408FZ Barcode Scanner with the ONESOURCE Trust Tax-Remote Bar Code Collector Utility

Set the suffix value to the Tab character. Scan the
Scan Suffix
barcode in the Prefix / Suffix Values pages then scan the four numeric barcodes for the digits of the Tab code in the "Numeric Bar Codes" section. The digits are 7009.
Set the Scan Data Transmission Format. Scan the following three barcodes in the Scan Data Transmission Format pages in the following order:
Scan Options<Data><Suffix>Enter

Double-click the RemoteBC.exe file to open the ONESOURCE Trust Tax-Remote Bar Code Collector utility.
Select
Options
from the
File
menu.
Set the following defaults for the ONESOURCE Trust Tax-Remote Bar Code Collector utility:
Default	Description
Auto Save	This default lets you select whether you want to automatically save barcodes that are collected. If you automatically save barcodes, you can specify the time interval or the number of barcodes that are scanned before the barcodes are automatically saved.
Local Bar code path	This default indicates the folder where the collected barcodes are stored before they are transferred to ONESOURCE Trust Tax.
Transfer Drive	This default indicates the folder the barcodes are saved to when a group of barcodes is transferred to ONESOURCE Trust Tax.
Select OK to save your changes.
Enter a name in the
Name
field. You are not required to enter your Universal ID in the
Name
field.
Select the first empty
Barcode Data
field.
Scan a barcode from a tax document generated by ONESOURCE Trust Tax. The barcode and date display in the
Barcode Data
field. The cursor automatically moves to the next
Barcode Data
field and is ready for you to scan the next barcode.
After you finish scanning the barcodes, select
Transfer Bar Codes
. The collected barcodes are saved to the folder specified for the
Transfer Drive
default. If the barcodes are not transferred before the ONESOURCE Trust Tax-Remote Bar Code Collector utility is closed then the barcodes are stored in the folder indicated in the
Local Bar code path
default. These previously-scanned barcodes display on the Bar Code Input screen until they are transferred.
Select
Clear
from the
File
menu if you need to remove all of the barcodes you collected from the Bar Code Input screen without transferring them.

Connect the Synapse cable into the COM 1 port (the center port) on the bottom of the cradle.
Connect the other end of the Synapse cable to the module of the Synapse Interface Adapter.
Connect the flying power lead of the of the Synapse cable into the receptacle on the side of the module of the Synapse Interface Adapter.
Connect the USB keyboard cable of the Synapse Interface Adapter into any USB port on your workstation.
Connect the power supply to the PWR SPLY port on the bottom of the cradle.
Connect the power cord to the power supply then plug the power cord into a 110V electrical outlet. The indicator light on the cradle blinks once, indicating a successful power-up.
The P460 barcode scanner is now connected to your workstation.

Make sure the cradle's power cord is properly connected to the cradle and plugged in to a 110V electrical outlet.

Insert the scanner into the cradle so that the nose of the scanner and the tip of the handle fit into the cradle's receptacles. The indicator light displays one of the following charge statuses:

Charge Status	Description
Blinking slowly	The scanner is properly inserted in the cradle and the battery will begin charging shortly.
Blinking rapidly	The battery is actively charging.
On	The battery is completely charged.
Off	The scanner is not in the cradle or it has not been properly inserted into the cradle. The battery is not charging.

If necessary, pull the trigger or press ENTER on the scanner keypad to wake up the scanner. The following screen displays on the scanner when it is awake:
Scan the Default USB Type barcode, which is located on page 6 under the "USB Device Type" section of the Synapse "Smart Cable" for USB Interface Guide.
Scan all nine of the ADF Rules barcodes plus the Reset Scanner barcode needed to append a Tab as a suffix. These barcodes are located on pages 3-20 and 3-21 under the

section of the P460/P360 Memory Scanners Product Reference Guide.

If necessary, pull the trigger or press ENTER on the scanner keypad to wake up the scanner. The following screen displays when the scanner is awake:
Scan a barcode from a tax document generated by ONESOURCE Trust Tax. The scanned barcode data automatically displays briefly on the scanner screen and is stored in the scanner's memory for later transmission. When the scanner screen shown above displays again, you are ready to scan the next barcode.
After you finish scanning barcodes, double-click the RemoteBC.exe file to open the ONESOURCE Trust Tax-Remote Bar Code Collector utility.

On the scanner keypad, press

. The following screen displays on the scanner, indicating that the scanner is ready to initiate the transfer:
Insert the scanner into its cradle. The scanner automatically transfers the stored barcodes to the ONESOURCE Trust Tax-Remote Bar Code Collector utility. After the stored barcodes are transmitted to the host, the following screen displays on the scanner:
Confirm that the barcodes you scanned were successfully transferred.
Complete one of the following:
Press ENTER on the scanner keypad to clear the transmitted barcodes from the scanner's memory. The following screen displays on the scanner:
After the data is cleared and you insert the scanner into its cradle, the following screen displays on the scanner:
Press
BK
on the scanner keypad to store the barcodes in the scanner's memory. When you press
BK
, any subsequently scanned barcodes are appended to the end of the existing barcodes.
