Document Delivery is turned on or turned off at the PAN level. For SuperBank associations, Document Delivery can be turned on or turned off for the SuperBank association or for each individual PAN in the SuperBank association.
To turn on Document Delivery for a PAN:
- SelectSETUPthenDocument Delivery. By default, theDocument Deliverysubtopic is selected and the Document Delivery page displays.
- SelectYesfrom theDocument Delivery Ondrop-down list for each PAN you want to turn on Document Delivery for. Otherwise, ensure thatNois selected for the PAN. The following graphic shows thatYesis selected for PAN 4937 only:

- SelectSave.
Updating Metadata Information
Each *.zip file generated for Document Delivery includes a manifest file (Metadata.xml) and the prepared documents that meet the assigned milestone. The Metadata.xml file contains specific information about the prepared documents included in the *.zip file as well as certain predefined fields. You can use ONESOURCE Trust Tax to update specific user defined values for a PAN, which will be included in the Metadata.xml file as metadata information. For SuperBank associations, the saved metadata information is not shared among other PANs in the SuperBank association.
To update metadata information for a PAN:
- SelectSETUPthenDocument Delivery. By default, theDocument Deliverysubtopic is selected and the Document Delivery page displays.
- Under theMetadata.xml informationcollapsible section, enter or update the values for theClient CodeandUserfields. TheClient CodeandUserfields are custom fields defined by the user. They are included in the .xml file. The fields are not mandatory and can be blank.
- SelectSave.
Updating the SFTP Location
Document Delivery allows you to have two different folder directories (one for live documents and one for test documents) for SFTP transmissions. You can update the SFTP location using the Document Delivery page in ONESOURCE Trust Tax. For PANs in a SuperBank association, the SFTP location is not shared among other PANs in the SuperBank association.
To update the SFTP location:
- SelectSETUPthenDocument Delivery. By default, theDocument Deliverysubtopic is selected and the Document Delivery page displays.
- Under theMetadata.xml informationcollapsible section, select the SFTP location you want to use from theSFTP Locationdrop-down list.
- SelectSave.
Setting Document Sections
At the PAN level, you can set the document sections that are retrieved and transmitted as PDFs. For example, you can set Document Delivery to retrieve and transmit all return pages for your federal and state 1041 or 990 returns but retrieve and transmit only recipient packages for your 1099 returns. For SuperBank associations, the saved document section settings are shared among the other PANs in the SuperBank association.
To set the document sections that are retrieved and transmitted as PDFs:
- SelectSETUPthenDocument Delivery. By default, theDocument Deliverysubtopic is selected and the Document Delivery page displays.
- Open theDocument Cross Referencecollapsible section. Notice that each row lists a different document type and document option combination.

- For each document type and document option combination, select the document section from theDocument Selected Optiondrop-down list. The selections include:
- No documents to be sent-When selected, no PDFs are transmitted.
- All return pages and separate recipient packages-When selected, a PDF of the complete tax return as well as separate PDFs for each recipient package are transmitted.
- All return pages-When selected, a PDF of the complete tax return is transmitted.All return pagesis the only selection available if recipient packages are not applicable to the document type and document option combination.
- Recipient packages only-When selected, separate PDFs for each recipient package are transmitted.
- SelectSave.
Assigning Document Delivery Milestones
Document Delivery retrieves and transmits prepared documents based on the assigned milestone for a document type and document option combination. For SuperBank associations, the saved milestone assignments are shared among the other PANs in the SuperBank association.
If you need to add a milestone, follow the steps to add a milestone before completing the following steps.
To assign a Document Delivery milestone:
- SelectSETUPthenDocument Delivery. By default, theDocument Deliverysubtopic is selected and the Document Delivery page displays.
- Open theDocument Cross Referencecollapsible section.
- SelectRun
for the row listing the document type and document option combination you want to assign a milestone for. As shown in the following graphic, a list of the current account milestones displays under the Milestone Assignmentcollapsible section:
- Select the check box for the milestone you want to assign.
- SelectSave.
- Repeat steps 4 through 6 for each document type and document option combination you want to assign a Document Delivery milestone for.
Adding a Milestone
To add a milestone:
- SelectSETUP,CustomizethenMilestones.
- Review theSectiondrop-down list to ensure that the type of milestone selected isAccount (Federal Return). If it is not, select it then selectSearch.
- Enter a milestone description in theMilestone Descriptionfield in the row that includes the textPlease select here to add new row.

- If you want to capture the milestone information at the time the status is set, select the status from theSet Milestone automatically when Status is changed todrop-down list.
- Press TAB until the milestone is added to the grid.
- SelectSave.
