Creating an 8949-AFT Tax Lot Register

If you have a large number of Agent for Trustee accounts, a custom
8949-AFT Tax Lot
register can help you identify the gain or loss information to report on Form 8949 (Sales and Other Dispositions of Capital Assets) at the tax lot level. After creating the register, you can update the tax lots on a row-by-row basis or by performing a column update to change a number of tax lots simultaneously.
To create a custom
8949-AFT Tax Lot
register:
  1. From the Register Listing page, select Modify Register Properties for the
Sales with missing cost/basis for a tax lot
base register. This register is in the
Capital Sales folder of the Transactions, Sales
    category.
  2. The Register Properties page displays.
  3. Open the
    Information
collapsible section. Change the name in the
    Register Name
    field to
    8949-AFT Tax Lot
, select the register scope from the
    Scope
    drop-down list then select
    Save As
. If you want, you can change the information in any of the other fields listed under the
    Information
    collapsible section before selecting
    Save As
    .
  4. The Register Properties page for your custom register displays.
  5. Under the
