Exporting Sales Information from ONESOURCE Trust Tax for Import into TurboTax or UltraTax CS

ONESOURCE Trust Tax provides the ability to export sales information from ONESOURCE Trust Tax for import into Intuit TurboTax or Thomson Reuters UltraTax CS. Before sales information can be exported, your PAN must be enabled through your Client Manager.

Online editions of TurboTax cannot import a Tax Exchange Format (.txf) file. Only the desktop editions (CD or download) of TurboTax can import a .txf file.

Exporting Sales Information

To export sales information from ONESOURCE Trust Tax:
  1. Process 1099 returns for the accounts that have the sales information you want to export. You must process 1099 returns. Processing worksheets or tax return projections will not update the sales information.
  2. Select
    REGISTERS
    .
  3. Navigate to the registers in the
    1099 Filing Review
    base category.
  4. Select the
    Export Register
    check box for one of the following:
    • The
      Form 8949 Sales Information by Recipient
      base register (or a custom register created from this base register)-If you want to export sales information in a file format that can be imported into TurboTax.
    • The
      1099-B Sales Information by Recipient
      base register (or a custom register created from this base register)-If you want to export sales information in a file format that can be imported into UltraTax.
  5. The following graphic shows the
    Export Register
    check box selected for the
    Form 8949 Sales Information by Recipient
    base register.
  6. Select
    Export
    .
  7. On the Ask Dialog page, select the file format. The following table lists the file formats available for selection:
  8. If you selected
    Text (.txt)
    or
    CSV (.csv)
    as the file format, then select the delimiter from the
    Choose Delimiter
    drop-down list. Selecting
    Comma
    generates a comma-delimited file. Selecting
    Pipe
    generates a pipe-delimited file.
  9. Select the
    Append timestamp to filename
    check box if you want to append the date and time the file was created to the file name.
  10. Select OK.
  11. Complete the following to retrieve the file:
    1. Select
      HOME
      then
      Admin
      .
    2. If the export has not completed, it is listed under the
      Current Requests
      collapsible section with
      Export Register
      displayed in the
      Request Type
      column. Select
      Display
      until the export completes and is no longer visible under the
      Current Requests
      collapsible section.
    3. Under the
      Request History
      collapsible section, find the
      Export
      request type and
      Register
      request option.
    4. Select the link in the
      File Name
      column.
    5. A message displays at the bottom of ONESOURCE Trust Tax that asks if you want to open or save the file.
    6. Select the down arrow to the right of
      Save
      then select
      Save as
      . The Save As window displays and allows you to save the file where you want to save it and with the file name you want to save it as.
    7. If you open the file with a file compression utility (such as WinZip), you will see that there is a file for each recipient. The files are named with the recipient’s name, the last four digits of the recipient's SSN or EIN, and the tax year.
    8. Individual .txf files can be provided to the recipient for import into the recipient's desktop edition (CD or download) of TurboTax.
