Batches are collections of workpapers you execute as a group.
There's 2 batch types:
Parallel
- This is the default type of batch that executes the workpapers in any order the system selects. You can run parallel batches that contain locked or checked out workpapers, but the locked or checked out workpapers are skipped.
Sequential
- You can use this option to specify the order in which the workpapers get executed. You can't execute a sequential batch that contains locked or checked out workpapers.
Create a batch
You can create a batch from several areas of Workpapers. The steps are the same from each area.
tip
You can also edit and delete batches from the Batches screen.
Go to
Batches
, and select
Create Batch
.
Enter a
Batch Name
.
Batches execute in parallel by default, so if you want to change that select Sequential Batch.
Select the workpapers to add to the batch, and then select
ADD
.
If you selected for this to be a sequential batch, you can reorder the workpapers by dragging and dropping them; otherwise, continue to the next step.
Select
Next
.
Select either
Save
or
Save & Run
.
note
If your batch is sequential and contains a locked or checked out workpaper, you can't run it from the wizard. Save it, and then run it after you remove the lock or check in the workpaper.
In parallel batches, each workpaper remains locked until it's processed.
In sequential batches, all workpapers are locked until the entire batch completes.
