Edit custom templates

Edit custom templates in Notepad to remove unwanted fields or rename field names.
Download the custom template before editing it.
  1. Go to the location where you downloaded the template file.
  2. Select the file, then open it in Notepad.
  3. Remove any unwanted fields.
    note
    To locate a field, use
    Ctrl+F
     and search by one of the following:
    • ID:
       Enter the field
      XREF
       value.
    • Name:
       Enter the
      Data Dictionary
       field name.
    To find the
    XREF
     or field name, right-click the field in the tax return and select
    Data Dictionary
    .
    Note the following about field names:
    • Field names appear in the Source Pane for mapping.
    • Field names are generated from the Data Dictionary.
