Add a project for a client

Create and assign projects to clients to process tax returns, audits, and more.

Before you begin

  • Make sure you're assigned to a permission group that has Clients and Projects enabled.
  • You need project templates to create projects.

Add a project for 1 client

While you work in Onvio, you can add new projects as needed. When you need to assign a project that doesn't exist yet, you can select
Add Project
at the bottom of the list of existing projects.
  1. In Onvio Center select
    Setup
    , then
    Clients
    .
  2. Add a new client or select
    Edit
    next to an existing client in the list.
  3. Go to the
    Projects
    tab.
  4. Select
    Add
    , then
    Project
    .
  5. In the
    Project Template
    field, select an existing template or select
    Add Project Template
    to create a new one.
  6. Check that the fields populated by the template are correct, and complete any additional fields.
    note
    The
    Contact
    field can only be the client or someone listed in the
    Relationships
    tab for the client.
  7. Use
    Switch to Advanced Mode
    to add more specific information, like target dates, storage, and reoccurrence.
  8. Select
    Save
    when you're finished.

Add projects for multiple clients

You can quickly create similar projects for multiple clients at once.
  1. In Onvio Center select
    Setup
    , then
    Clients
    .
  2. Mark the checkboxes to select multiple clients.
  3. Select
    Edit
    .
  4. Select
    Add Projects
    , then
    Next
    .
  5. In the
    Project Template
    field, choose an existing template or select
    Add Project Template
    to create a new one.
  6. Select
    Show Details
    to see more information or to remove an item from the list of items you're editing.
  7. Select
    Done
    to save your changes, or select
    Previous
    to go to back to the last step. Select
    Cancel
    to undo all changes and go back to the Clients screen.
