Delete a client project

If you create a project using the wrong template or if you no longer need a project for a specific client, you can delete it.

Before you start

  • Make sure you're assigned to a permission group that has Projects enabled.
  • We recommend that you cancel projects that have started or are in progress instead of deleting them. These projects often have billing items and tasks in Onvio that stop them from being deleted.
  • Once you delete a project, it can't be retrieved.
  • You can only delete a project if there are no items in Onvio referencing the project.

Cancel a project

  1. In Onvio Center, select
    Projects
    .
  2. In the Status column, choose
    Canceled
    for the project.
  3. Use the filter options or select
    Open Projects Only
    to filter out
    Canceled
    projects.

Delete a project

  1. In Onvio Center, select
    Projects
    .
  2. Mark the checkbox to select a project. Select
    Delete
    .
  3. Or you can go to the Actions column on the project and select
    Delete
    .
  4. Select
    Delete
    again to confirm, or
    Cancel
    to keep the project.
Delete project error
If you receive an error while trying to delete a project, the project still has active items in Onvio, such as
  • An active client-facing document request task.
  • An invoice with an item associated to the project.
  • A fixed fee invoice was generated for the project.
  • A Client Center invoice task exists for the project.
  • A Time or Expense entry exists for the project or one of its tasks.
