Binder templates

Binder templates let you specify a default binder folder structure and add common documents that makes it easy to add binders for your contacts. Use the following steps to set up and use a new binder template.

Set up a binder template

You must have security permission to create binder templates.
  1. In Onvio Trial Balance or Guided Assurance, go to
    Setup
    Binder Templates
    and select
    New Template
    .
    note
    If you are licensed for Guided Assurance, you can turn on and set up a Guided Assurance binder to link to the binder template via the Settings tab.
  2. Enter a name for the binder template and select
    Save & Open
    to open the template.
  3. Select the
    Binder
    tab to set up the binder template, as necessary.
  4. Select
    Close
    to return to the
    Binder Templates
    screen.

Use the binder template

Use one of the following procedures to select and use a binder template in your project.
Select a binder template in Onvio Center
  1. In Onvio Center, go to
    Setup
    Project Templates
    .
  2. Select
    Edit
    for an existing project template.
  3. Modify any of the existing information for the fields and options in the screen, as they apply to your project.
  4. In the
    Document Storage
    section, select
    Create new binder from template
    , then the template from the list in the
    Binder Template
    field.
  5. Select
    Save
    .
Select a binder template
  1. In the
    Projects
    screen, select
    Add
    to create a new project.
  2. Enter an ID and name for the project template.
  3. Provide information for the fields and options remaining in the screen, as they apply to your project.
  4. In the
    Document Storage
    section, select
    Create new binder from template
    , then the template from the list in the
    Binder Template
    field.
  5. Select
    Save & Open
    to open the project.
Import a binder template
Select
Import
. This will let you import one or multiple tax-sourced binder templates at a time.
Each of the entity specific binder templates have folder structures set up to mirror the input folders in UltraTax CS.

  • New binder templates that are added in
    Binder Templates
    screen are also available from the
    Folder Templates
    screen.
  • Select
    Manage
    in the
    Binder Templates
    screen to rename or delete a selected binder template.
  • A binder template can only be rolled forward when it is linked with Guided Assurance. If you roll forward a binder template that is linked to Guided Assurance, you will need to complete the rollforward process for the newly created binder template in that application.
  • A new binder template is created when you roll forward an existing binder template that is linked to Guided Assurance.
