Credit for taxes paid to other states
You can calculate the credit for taxes paid to other states in a plan for any of the following resident states, for up to two nonresident states attached to the plan. To calculate this credit, begin in the resident state and choose

, then Other State Tax Cr
. Then, select a nonresident state from either or both of the Nonresident state
dropdown lists. The income subject to tax and the amount of tax from the nonresident state automatically copies to the resident state, and the credit calculates in the related fields.note
- Some states have a different name for theOther State Tax Crtab. For example, the name of this tab for Rhode Island isOther State Tax.
- Some states have two of these tabs. Arizona, Delaware, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, and Montana have a taxpayer (TP) tab and spouse (SP) tab. New Jersey has aTax Pd Other Statestab andLocal Taxes Paidtab. Massachusetts and Pennsylvania haveOut of State 1andOut of State 2tabs.
- If the nonresident state is not attached to the plan, you can manually enter the income subject to tax and the amount of tax from the nonresident state, and the credit calculates in the related fields.
