Use Difference Analysis mode
To compare the field values and/or amounts of two different columns and print the results, complete the following steps.
- Determine which columns you want to compare.
- ChooseView, thenDifference Analysis. A checkmark appears next to the command indicating you are viewing in the plan in Difference Analysis mode, and theDifference Analysiswindow opens.
- In the Column 1 group box, select the first column to compare by choosing the alternative and year from the dropdown lists attached to theAlternativeandYearfields.
- In the Column 2 group box, select the second column to compare by choosing the alternative and year from the dropdown lists attached to theAlternativeandYearfields.
- Select theAmountorPercentoption to view the change in values by amount or percentage.
- SelectOKto view the two columns selected for comparison and theDifference Analysiscolumn side by side.
- You can print standard reports, custom reports, graphs, and client letters while you are in Difference Analysis mode. To print, chooseFile, thenPrint Reports.noteIn thePrint Reportswindow, theAllandCustomcheckboxes are not available while you are viewing the current plan in Difference Analysis mode.
- To close Difference Analysis mode and return to normal mode, chooseView, thenDifference Analysisto clear the checkmark.

- When you view a plan in Difference Analysis mode, the following Planner CS options and commands aren't available.
- Plan Information window: You can't advance the first plan year; select theFamily Planoption, or select theDisplay single base yearoption.
- Edit menu: The Auto Copy, Auto Increase, Copy Column, Plan Alternatives, and Plan Years commands aren't available.
- View menu: The Hide/Rearrange and Single Base Year commands aren't available.
- Tools menu: The MFS Split command isn't available.
- In a TCJA Comparison Plan, the Difference Analysis column displays by default. You can chooseView, thenDifference Analysisto hide this column.
- You can't use the Difference Analysis mode if your plan is a family plan or an annualized plan.
