Use Difference Analysis mode

To compare the field values and/or amounts of two different columns and print the results, complete the following steps.
  1. Determine which columns you want to compare.
  2. Choose
    View
    , then
    Difference Analysis
    . A checkmark appears next to the command indicating you are viewing in the plan in Difference Analysis mode, and the
    Difference Analysis
    window opens.
  3. In the Column 1 group box, select the first column to compare by choosing the alternative and year from the dropdown lists attached to the
    Alternative
    and
    Year
    fields.
  4. In the Column 2 group box, select the second column to compare by choosing the alternative and year from the dropdown lists attached to the
    Alternative
    and
    Year
    fields.
  5. Select the
    Amount
    or
    Percent
    option to view the change in values by amount or percentage.
  6. Select
    OK
    to view the two columns selected for comparison and the
    Difference Analysis
    column side by side.
  7. You can print standard reports, custom reports, graphs, and client letters while you are in Difference Analysis mode. To print, choose
    File
    , then
    Print Reports
    .
    note
    In the
    Print Reports
    window, the
    All
    and
    Custom
    checkboxes are not available while you are viewing the current plan in Difference Analysis mode.
  8. To close Difference Analysis mode and return to normal mode, choose
    View
    , then
    Difference Analysis
    to clear the checkmark.

  • When you view a plan in Difference Analysis mode, the following Planner CS options and commands aren't available.
    • Plan Information window: You can't advance the first plan year; select the
      Family Plan
      option, or select the
      Display single base year
      option.
    • Edit menu: The Auto Copy, Auto Increase, Copy Column, Plan Alternatives, and Plan Years commands aren't available.
    • View menu: The Hide/Rearrange and Single Base Year commands aren't available.
    • Tools menu: The MFS Split command isn't available.
  • In a TCJA Comparison Plan, the Difference Analysis column displays by default. You can choose
    View
    , then
    Difference Analysis
    to hide this column.
  • You can't use the Difference Analysis mode if your plan is a family plan or an annualized plan.
