Fields in the data-entry window

Shading for fields

Fields in Planner CS are shaded different colors depending on the type of field.
  • White: Data-entry fields
  • Gray: Calculated fields
  • Black: Fields that aren't applicable for certain years in the years that they do not apply.

Colors for amounts in data-entry fields

Amounts in data-entry fields will appear in 1 of 3 colors depending on the type of data:
  • Black: Amounts entered by you.
  • Blue: Amounts calculated by Planner CS.
  • Maroon: Amounts imported from UltraTax/1040 or GoSystem Tax RS.

Calculated fields

Planner CS automatically enters the amounts in calculated fields based on the information you enter in data-entry fields. You can identify calculated fields by their gray cell shading.
Amounts in calculated fields will appear in 2 colors depending on the type of data:
  • Blue: Amounts calculated by Planner CS.
  • Red: Amounts overridden by you.
Planner CS has two types of calculated fields: pulled and computed.
  • Pulled fields
     -
    A green field name indicates that the amount in this field transfers from a specific row in a different tab in the plan. When you double-click a pulled field, Planner CS automatically displays the tab in which the data for the calculation was entered.
  • Computed fields
     - A dark blue field name indicates that Planner CS computes the amount in this field. (Names of Carryover fields also appear in dark blue.)

Carryover fields

In the first year of an alternative, carryover fields behave like data-entry fields, and in subsequent years they function as computed fields. You can enter an amount in the first year of the alternative, and Planner CS automatically calculates the amount for subsequent years. The names of these fields appear in dark blue.
If you attempt to override an amount in one of the subsequent years of a carryover field, Planner CS prompts you to confirm the override and then displays the override in red. To return to the carryover amount, select the field (don’t highlight it) and select
Edit
Delete Override
 or press
DELETE
.
