This user bulletin describes enhancements and changes made to this release of Planner CS® and special information related to scheduled 2025 Planner CS update releases.
What’s new
2025 UltraTax/1040 and Planner CS integration
The ability to import data from 2025 UltraTax CS is available with this release of Planner CS. UltraTax CS/1040 version 2025.3.0 or higher must be installed to enable the export of 2025 client data to Planner CS. UltraTax CS/1040 version 2025.3.0 will be released on February 5, 2026.
2025 GoSystem Tax RS integration
The ability to import data from 2025 GoSystem® Tax RS is now available.
What’s changed
Adoption Credit Calculation
Beginning in tax year 2025, the adoption credit includes a refundable portion. Based on updated IRS guidance, this release changes the calculation order to apply the refundable portion
before
the nonrefundable portion. This matches the steps shown on the 2025 Form 8839, Qualified Adoption Expenses
.As a result, some plans with multiple nonrefundable credits may see a change in the “
Federal Balance Due/ -Refund”
amount.Improved screen reader experience
Hidden page elements will no longer be read aloud, making navigation clearer and easier.
What’s coming
Windows 10 support ending
In October 2025, Microsoft ended support for Windows 10. Because Thomson Reuters cannot support customers using our applications on unsupported operating systems, Planner CS will no longer be supported on Windows 10 as of October 14, 2025. We strongly recommend that you upgrade your workstations to a supported operating system soon.
Planner CS update releases
You can update 2025 Planner CS via CS Connect™ through October 2026. If you have an active internet connection, the Notices section of the Planner CS Home Page alerts you when an update is available. To download and apply updates, choose File > CS Connect, mark the Retrieve available updates checkbox, and click the Call Now button.
