View and reprint historical invoices

It's often helpful to view or reprint previous invoices for a client. Practice CS provides several locations where you can view historical invoices.

Prior Invoices
portlet on the
Client Dashboard

You can do the following in this portlet:
  • Preview invoices.
  • Print invoices.
  • Open invoices in the
    Detail Billing
    screen.

    If an invoice is posted or there's a credit applied to it, you can view the
    Detail Billing
    screen for the invoice, but depending on your firm’s security setup, you may not be able to modify it.
  • Edit the Date, Due Date, Notes, Office, or Reference.
    note
    • If you select multiple invoices, you can change them with a single edit.
    • Depending on your firm’s security setup, you may not be able to edit an invoice that's posted or has a credit applied to it.
  • View the individual WIP transactions billed on an invoice.
    note
    To show the individual WIP transactions, right-click and select
    Show Options
    . In the Options panel, mark the
    Show Details
    checkbox. The application will display the details for the selected invoice.
  • Right-click and select
    Print Grid
    to print the content of the portlet.

You can access the Client Dashboard can directly from Detail Billing. Select the link at the bottom of any tab in Detail Billing.

Review tab of the
Billing
screen

On this tab, you can do the following:
  • Use the
    Search
    field to find a specific invoice.
  • Filter the tab for a specified set of invoices, such as those within a specified date range or for a specific client.
  • Select the
    Unapproved only
    or
    Unposted only
    checkboxes to filter the tab to show only invoices that are unapproved or unposted.

    This feature is available only if your firm uses the Approval/Posting process for billing.
  • Approve and post invoices.

  • Unapprove and unpost invoices.

  • Preview invoices.
  • Print Invoices.
  • Open invoices in Detail Billing.

  • Select
    Journal
    to view and print an Invoice Journal report for the invoices displayed on the screen.
  • Right-click and select
    Print Grid
    to print the entire contents of the screen.

This report can produce a list of invoices with the following features and options:
  • Filter the report on variables related to invoices and clients.
  • Group the report on variables related to invoices and clients.
  • Include the WIP detail for each invoice.
  • Open the invoice in Detail Billing by selecting it in a report preview.
