Set up referral sources

Record the sources that bring new clients to your firm, helping you measure the effectiveness of your marketing efforts.
On the
Referral Sources setup
screen, you can record external sources that bring new clients to your firm, such as advertising campaigns, news articles, and other miscellaneous sources.
Don’t enter firm staff or existing clients and contacts as referral sources — you can select those from separate lists when you enter referral information.
Tracking referral sources helps your firm measure the effectiveness of its marketing efforts, and identify unexpected sources that may merit additional resources.

You can access this screen only if your firm is licensed for the Client Management module.
To set up referral sources:
  1. Go to
    Setup
    Client Retention Descriptions
    Referral Sources
    .
  2. On the
    Referral Sources setup
    screen, select
    Add
    .
  3. In the
    Description
    field, enter a description of the referral source, such as “Yellow Pages Ad”.
  4. Select
    Enter
    to save the referral source.
After you add referral sources, they become available for selection on the
Main
tab of the
Clients
setup screen when you select
Referral Source
in the
Referral Type
field.
