Request a client renumber from Technical Services

Technical Services can do a client renumber when you want to update the client IDs in Practice CS. This service prevents you from manually changing 1 client ID at a time.
Before you do a client renumber, consider how your Practice CS client IDs integrate with your other CS Professional Suite and third-party applications. Additionally, a client renumber will impact integration if you do the following in Practice CS.
  • Use GoFileRoom integration in Practice CS
  • Use NetClient CS portals
  • Use Client Management file transfers
  • Use Kotapay for credit card processing and/or ACH payments
If you use UltraTax CS, you'll need to change the client IDs to match with Practice CS so that integration will continue to work. There isn't a service to update UltraTax CS client IDs so you'll have to do that manually.
  1. Contact your sales rep or submit a request for sales to contact to you.
  2. Back up your Practice CS data.
  3. Create a renumbering worksheet.
    1. Create a 2-column Excel spreadsheet with 1 column containing your existing client IDs and the other containing your new IDs.
  4. Send your backup and the Excel spreadsheet to Technical Services.
    1. You can continue working in Practice CS while Technical Services works on your data.
  5. Send your updated data to Technical Services.
    1. You'll need a new backup of your database before the renumbering completes.
  6. Receive and import your renumbered data. It usually takes about 5 days for Technical Services to send you the updated data.
