Drill-down in custom formats
In Practice CS, drill-down can be manually enabled or disabled on selected fields on reports in the
Setup
, Custom Formats
screen.Drill-down will automatically evaluate the formula for the field you are drilling down on and filter the drill-down report for that amount. It's done through the Properties Pane on textbox, which can be updated using multiple select to change common properties on all selected textboxes.
There are 6 main report layouts that have no drill-down capabilities:
- Billed Tax Summary
- Collection Summary
- Period Reconciliation
- Staff Assigned Summary
- Staff Schedule Summary
- Staff Benefits Summary
These 3 sub-report layouts have no drill-down capabilities:
- Invoice Journal sub-report
- Staff Billing Rates sub-report
- Staff Benefits Summary sub-report
These reports drill-down to other reports:
- Accounts Receivable Summary to Accounts Receivable Ledger
- Billing Analysis to Time & Expense Listing
- The Time & Expense Listing shows total units closed unless a Billed or Adjusted amount formula/column is clicked
- Production Analysis to Time & Expense Listing
- The Time & Expense Listing shows total units unless a Billable, Non-billable, or Admin units formula/column is clicked
- Timesheet Exception report has same drill-down options
- Staff Capacity Analysis to Staff Schedule Summary
- The Staff Schedule Summary shows the date range formula/column that is clicked
- The default is column 1 for unrecognized formulas
- Staff Target Summary to Time & Expense Listing

note
For reports where drill-down capabilities aren't available, the field is still there but it's grayed out with no options to select.
