Export and import custom formats
You can transfer any format in Practice CS between database files. You can transfer the file to a new firm database, or design a test format within the sample database and later transfer it to your live database.
The transfer is a 2-step process. The files must first be exported and then imported into the new database.
Follow these steps to export the custom format files:
- SelectFile,Export, thenCustom Formats.
- Select the custom format files for export.
- Select to either save the files to a location on your computer or network or email the files.
- SelectExport Selected.
Follow these steps to import the custom format files:
- SelectFile,Import, thenCustom Formats.
- Go to the location where the custom format files are saved.
- Select the custom format files.
- SelectImport Selected.
Once imported, the files are available for use.
If security is enabled, you may need to adjust security settings for yourself and other staff members to be able to use the format.
