Rename a database
Practice CS doesn’t have a command that lets you to change the name of an existing database. To change the name of a database, you'll need to do the following:
- Have all users close Practice CS.noteThe following procedure should be performed at the server on which your database resides.
- Open Practice CS on the server and sign in to the database you want to rename.
- Go toFilethenBackup. Make note of the path and file name shown inBackup file.
- SelectOK.
- Go toFilethenDelete Firm.
- Verify theFirm nameyou're deleting.
- SelectOK.note
- Practice CS will make another backup of your current database before deleting it.
- When the deletion is complete, your screen will be blank except for aFileandHelpmenu.
- Go toFilethenOpen Firm.
- Sign in to the Sample database.
- Go toFilethenRestore.
- InBackup file\directory:select the ellipse at the end of the line.
- Go to the path and file you noted in step 3.
- Enter the new name for the database inNew Firm Name.
- Select the database you backed up in step 3.
- SelectOK.
You should now be back in your original database that now has the name you provided in step 11.
