Restore the setup database

You can restore the Practice CS Setup database to help you with some initial setup items. The Setup database includes everything that's in the Sample database except for Clients, Staff, WIP, and A/R transactions.
The Setup database can only be added as a new firm and it can't be merged with existing Practice CS data.
To restore the Setup database, follow these steps.

If you're on Virtual Office or SaaS and would like the Setup database restored, contact Support.
  1. Go to the server where the SQL data resides.
  2. Open any firm database in Practice CS. Use the Staff ID ADMIN and the corresponding password.
  3. Select
    File
    then
    Restore
    .
  4. Go to the location where you saved the Practice CS Product Download folder. This folder is created when you run the practicecsdownload.exe file from
    My Product Downloads
    . The default location is C:\Practice CS 20XX.X.X Download.
  5. Inside the Practice CS 20XX.X.X Download folder, select the Data folder and then select
    OK
    .
  6. Enter a
    New Firm Name
    .
  7. Select the Setupdatabase.bdf from the list and then select
    OK
    .
Internal use only
For Virtual Office / SaaS firms, submit a request using the form found in Virtual Office CS SQL restore request. Explain in the Notes that the firm would like the Setup database restored for Practice CS. CPT has a copy of the setupdatabase.bdf file so you don't need to provide the actual file.
