Error generated when opening the program: CreativeSolutions.Practice.exe â€" Common Language Runtime Debugging Services. Application has generated an exception that couldn’t be handled. Process id =xxxxx, Thread id =xxxx.
Restart the workstation and verify that all network drives have reconnected properly.
This can also be caused by the staff person not having sufficient network rights to the program files directory. (Default location: X:\WinCSI\Practice CS\) Try giving the staff person Administrator rights to rule out this issue.
We’ve had a couple instances where this was caused by a program called Phoneslips. If you have this program installed, call Josh Graff at Phoneslips support.
This can also be caused by a bad install of Microsoft .Net Framework, if you have ruled out all other causes, call your I.T. professional to troubleshoot your Microsoft .Net installation.

If a firm calls in regarding the Microsoft .Net Framework installation, the following notes (from IT 267601) may be helpful:
To correct the error, you should try the following steps IN ORDER.
  1. Remove Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 from Add/Remove Programs (If any later versions are installed you may need to remove them first. Note all versions that you are removing as you may need to reinstall these)
  2. Reinstall Practice CS Desktop by browsing to the installation location, \WinCSI\Practice CS\Desktop\Setup.exe, and executing the setup program.
  3. Verify that Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 reloads during this installation. (When complete, if any newer versions of .NET were removed in step 1, you may need to reinstall them for other applications in your environment.)
If the prior steps don’t result in the removal and reload of .NET Framework 2.0 use the following steps from Thomson case number K64582019 NOTE: If you are running a 64-bit operating systems you will want to download .Net Framework 3.5 from Microsoft.com which contains both the .Net Framework 2.0 with SP1 and the .Net Framework 3.0 with SP1.
  1. Download and install Msicuu2.exe from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908077 . The Download.exe is about two thirds down the article. The Link is named Download the Windows Installer Clean Up Utility (Msicuu2.exe) package now.
  2. Run the Windows Installer Clean Up Utility, MSICUU2.EXE from where you downloaded it to.
  3. Go to Start \ All Programs and select the Windows Install Clean up line
  4. Choose the .Net Framework 2.0 line and select Remove.
  5. When Finished go back to the Add / remove programs dialog and select Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 from the list again and select uninstall. It should now let you uninstall it or repair it.
  6. Once it's removed do a desktop setup or run the dotnetfx.exe file in the desktop folder.

      2. Select the green link in the 1st sentence, updated version of the .NET Framework cleanup tool, to download the tool.
      3. Select Run when prompted
      4. Extract the ZIP file file to create cleanuptool.exe.
      5. Run Cleanuptool.exe by double-clicking on the file.
      6. Answer YES to running the tool and agree to any license agreements encountered.
      7. From the Drop Down, select the version of .NET you want to clean up. Select .NET 2.0
      8. Select Clean Up Now
      9. You will be required to restart your system.
    2. Manual removal steps for the .NET Framework 2.0
      1. Follow all instructions provided. It is recommended that these steps be performed by an IT professional.
  4. Reinstall .NET Framework 2.0 by browsing to the installation location of Practice CS, \WinCSI\Practice CS\Desktop\Setup.exe, and running the Desktop Setup program.
