Error: The time on the database server and the time on your computer are different...
When you open Practice CS you may receive the following warning message:
The time on the database server and the time on your computer are different by [x] minutes and [x] seconds. Several features of Practice CS depend on accurate times. Please adjust the time on your computer or ask your Practice CS administrator to correct the time on database server "[database server name]".
You'll receive this warning message if the time on your workstation and the time on the database server are 3 or more minutes apart.
Solution 1: Change the time on the server
To change the time on the server, consult your Practice CS administrator or IT professional.
Solution 2: Change the time on your workstation
- Make a note of the time that shows on the server. You'll need to change the time on your workstation to be within 3 minutes of the server time.
- On your workstation, right-click the time in the Windows task bar and selectAdjust date and time.
- Change the time. Again, make sure the new time is within 3 minutes of the server time.
Solution 3: Increase the time difference allowed
You can also increase the time difference allowed before the warning is displayed:
- Find theNetworkInstallation.inifile inX:\WinCSI\Practice CS(where X is the drive letter on which your Practice CS Shared files are installed).
- Right-click on the file and chooseOpen With, thenNotepad.
- Add a new line in the[AppSettings]section.
- In the new line enterMaximumClientServerClockDifferenceMinutes=n(where n is the number of minutes difference between the time on the workstation and the time on the data server at which point Practice CS will display the warning).
