Error: Period is missing or has incorrect begin and/or end date

If you find that your current period doesn't have the correct begin and/or end date or that the begin date of the next period is incorrect, review the following information.

Current period dates are incorrect

If this is the only period that was automatically entered when you created your database, you can adjust the beginning and end date to define the 1st period for which you will be entering data or beginning balances.
If this is not the 1st period, you'll only be able to change the end date as the begin date is set by the system to be one day after the end date of the prior period and can't be changed.

Create new period dates are incorrect

When you are ready to advance to the next period, you realize that the begin and/or end date is incorrect. If the begin date is correct but the end date is not, you can change the end date.
If the begin date is incorrect this means that the end date of the prior period is also incorrect and can't be changed.

Prior period dates are incorrect

The begin and/or end date is incorrect. Neither can be changed because once a period is closed, the system won’t let you change the date range of the prior period.
When the application denies you the ability to change a period begin or end date, it is in order to maintain the integrity of the period date ranges. The application requires that there be no overlap of, or gaps between, periods. Thus if a prior period is set incorrectly, the application can't let you change the dates of that period without violating the integrity of the period dates.
