RSS news feeds display incorrectly in Practice CS
Fix RSS news feed portlets that display as an XML document or show incorrect content after an internet connection loss or when using an online proxy setup in Practice CS.
RSS news feed portlets may display as an XML document if the workstation loses its internet connection. The incorrect display may continue even after the connection is restored. RSS news feeds also display incorrectly if the workstation uses an online proxy setup.
To fix RSS news feed display issues, complete the following steps:
- Verify that your Internet connection is restored.
- Use Windows Update to check for and apply any Microsoft Windows service packs or updates.
- Right-click within the RSS News Feed portlet and selectRefresh.
- Create a new RSS News Feed portlet.
- Go to and selectAdd.
- Enter a description for the new portlet, for example, CNN News.
- Set theTypetoRSS News Feed.
- Enter the website address for the news feed, for example, CNN.com.
- Select the greenGoarrow for the address field.
- When the site appears, select the orange RSS feed icon's down arrow and choose the news feed you want to display.
- SelectEnterto save the new portlet.
- Go to .
- Right-click within the Dashboard and selectSelect Portlets.
- Mark the checkbox for the RSS news feed portlet you created.
- Right-click within the RSS news feed portlet and selectDelete News Items History.
- Close Practice CS and reopen the application.
- If the RSS news feed portlets still don't display correctly, close Practice CS and reinstall the desktop setup:
- Go toX:\WinCSI\Practice CS\Desktop.
- Double-clickSetup.exeand follow the prompts to reinstall Practice CS.
- Open Practice CS to verify that all RSS news feeds display properly.
On-line proxy settings
If your workstation uses online proxy settings, RSS news feeds won’t display correctly.
To work around this issue, turn off the online proxy settings on the workstation, then close and reopen Practice CS.
