Error: Staff must have at least one effective date to enter Time and Expense entries
Scenario
You may get the following error message when starting a timer.
Staff must have at least one effective date to enter Time and Expense entries.
Cause
The selected staff member doesn't have valid rates set up or they are entering time prior to their oldest effective date.
Solution
Follow these steps to set up or edit staff rates.
- From theSetupmenu, selectStaff, and go to theRatestab.
- Select a staff member from the list.
- SelectEdit.
- If you're adding a new rate, selectAdd. If you are editing a rate, select the rate you want to edit.
- In theEffective datefield, enter the effective date for the rate table.
- In theCost ratefield, enter a cost (if applicable) for the current staff member.
- In theDescriptioncolumn of theBilling ratestable, select a description for the billing rate from the dropdown list.note
- Only items from the list will be accepted. Entries in this list come from theStaff Rate Descriptionslist (). If you have security permission, you can add an item to the list by right-clicking the list and selectingAdd Entry.
- You can only select a description once for the current effective date.
- In theHourly Ratefield of theBilling ratestable, enter a rate for the staff member.
- When finished, selectEnterto save your changes.
You can create new rate tables or edit existing rates at any time. When you create new rate tables or change current rates for existing rate tables, the application checks if there are any time entries that need to be recalculated based on the new rates.
