Setup areas - envelopes
Practice CS includes several formats for printing on envelopes. These formats are available for import from the Practice CS Library. If none of these formats meet your needs, you can create your own envelope format using the Custom Formatter.
Within the Practice CS Library, go to the
Labels
section. There are several envelope layouts designed for #10 envelopes. These can be downloaded and modified to suit your needs.- To edit the formats, go toSetupthenCustom Formats. Within this screen, select the envelope formats, located withinAddress Labels. The main formatting window will let you change the content of the address and/or return address information printed on the envelope.
- To change the positioning of the envelope, go toFilethenPage Setup. Here you can adjust the margins of the format withinPage Setup, and the size of the envelope inPrinter Settings.
note
The envelope custom reports from the library use a 9.5"x4" custom page size (which is the size of a #10 envelope), turned Landscape. This, in theory, will be the correct size to print on a #10 envelope when fed into the printer. However, due to differences between printers, print drivers, and the way that envelopes are fed into the printer, the output may not print on the envelope.
.
There is not a way for Practice CS to move the output of the custom-size page down to the "center" of the landscaped page. If this is happening, you will need to change the page size by doing the following:
- Estimate how many inches you need to move the printed output down in order to make the name/address print on the correct area of the envelope.
- Go toFilethenPage Setup.
- Add that amount you estimated to the "top margin" in thePage Setup.
- Select thePrinter Settingsnavigator.
- Add that same amount to the "height" setting.
- SelectOKand preview the envelope. It should have moved more towards the center. If it needs a bit more or less, then try different values for steps 3 and 5 mentioned previously until the envelope is printing correctly.
