Filter reports and screens for active clients only

By default Practice CS includes all clients and staff regardless of status on reports and screens, whether their status is active or inactive. If you would like to limit the output to show only active clients or staff, you'll need to create a custom filter.
You may want to run historical reports on the full financial history in the application or run reports or filter screens to show only active data. For example:
  • You may want to run a client-based report and show active clients only, excluding clients you no longer provide services to.
  • You may want to run a report and exclude staff members that no longer work for the firm.
  • You may want to go to a
    Setup
    screen and filter out inactive clients, activities, or staff.
  1. Follow the steps in the
    Filtering your data
    article to create a custom filter.
  2. Go to the
    Criteria Information
    section of the custom filter setup.
  3. Set the following options:
    1. Filter by:
      to
      Status
    2. Method:
      to
      is
    3. Selected
      : to
      Active
  4. Use filter options on reports.
    1. Go to
      File
      , then
      Print Reports
      .
    2. Select a report.
    3. Select the
      Selection
      tab.
    4. On the 1st line of the Filtering section, select the
      Client
      or
      Staff
      data type.
    5. In the next column, select
      is
      from the filter dropdown list.
    6. Select the custom filter you created for active staff or clients.
    7. Preview
      or
      Print
      your report.
