Work in Process reports display hours and expense units in the same field

In WIP reports that include both time and expenses, subtotals and grand totals in the Hrs/Units field may not be meaningful because they combine hours and units. Group the report by Activity Type to separate time and expenses, or import a formatted report from the Practice CS Library.
Work in Process (WIP) reports combine hours and expense units into a single field called
Hrs/Units
. When a report includes both time and expenses, the subtotals and grand totals in this field may not be meaningful because they add hours and units together.
The following reports are affected:
  • Billing Worksheet
  • Production Analysis
  • Time and Expense Journal
  • Time and Expense Listing

Group the report by Activity Type

To separate time and expenses within the report, group the report by Activity Type:
  1. In the report options, select the
    Layout
    tab.
  2. In the 1st available
    Group by
    field, select
    Activity Type
    .

Grouping by Activity Type separates time and expenses within the report, but grand totals may still combine hours and units together.

Import a formatted report from the Practice CS Library

If you need time and expenses displayed in separate columns, import a pre-formatted report from the Practice CS Library.
