Practice CS: Amounts on Client Dashboard aren't equal amounts on some reports

When comparing amounts on the Client Dashboard to your reports, you might find that the amounts on the dashboard are lower than the amounts on your reports. The most common reason for A/R or WIP activity and balances don't match reports is that the client is a member of a client family and the report is looking at values for the entire family while the dashboard is displaying values only for the selected client.
Examples of items that may not match between the Client Dashboard and a report are:
  • The WIP balance and activity in the WIP Recap PTD portlet is lower than the balance on the Work In Process Summary, Production Analysis, or any other report that shows WIP balances and/or activity by client.
  • The Accounts Receivable balance and activity in the A/R Recap PTD portlet is lower than the balance on the Accounts Receivable Summary, Billing Analysis, or any other report that shows A/R balances and/or activity by client.

Resolution

To address this situation, the client dashboard includes a checkbox at the top of the screen for the parents of client families labeled
Include Client family data
.
  • If the box is marked, the parent client's dashboard will include WIP and A/R activity for the entire family.
  • If the box is not marked, the parent client's dashboard will only display WIP and A/R for the parent client and won’t include balance from any subsidiary clients.
  • Whether the box is marked or not, a subsidiary client's dashboard will only show balances for the selected client.
