Continuing Professional Education overview
If your firm is licensed for Practice CS Staff Management, you have access to tools that can help you track Continuing Professional Education (CPE) course information.
- Enter CPE course information.
- Schedule staff to attend CPE courses.
- Enter staff CPE time.
- Track the cost of CPE credit hours.
Entering and scheduling individual CPE courses
If you've never used Staff Management to track CPE courses, you will need to set up CPE course accountancies and sponsors.
- SelectSetup,CPE Course, and thenAccountancies.
- SelectSetup,CPE Course, and thenSponsor.
Once you have at least 1 CPE course accountancy and 1 CPE course sponsor, you can enter CPE course information and schedule staff members for the course.
To enter a CPE course follow these steps:
- SelectAddin the toolbar.
- Select the down arrow.
Entering administrative time for CPE courses
If you have never entered CPE time, you need to set up a CPE activity. Follow these steps to add a CPE Activity.
- SelectSetup, thenActivity.
- SelectAdd.
- Enter theID,DescriptionandInvoice DescriptionnoteThis activity will be used for all CPE courses. The ID and Description should be generic.
- Leave theTypeset toTime.
- Change theClasstoAdministrative
- Change theAdministrative TypetoCPE Course.
- Under the Rates section, selectFixed Rateand leave the amount at$0.00.
- SelectEnterto save the activity.
Once you have created a CPE time activity, you can enter staff time using that activity by selecting
Actions
then Time & Expense Entry
. You will need to associate the time entry with the CPE course. Reporting
Practice CS provides a CPE Course Cost Analysis report and a CPE Course Credit Listing report in the Staff Management folder on the Print Reports screen. The CPE Course Cost Analysis uses the Cost per attendee of the CPE course and the staff cost to calculate the cost per credit for a CPE course. The CPE Course Credit Listing report shows information about scheduled CPE courses over a specific date range.
