Make manual adjustments to accruable benefit balances

If your firm uses accruable benefits or comp time, staff members with the Staff Management security permissions can make manual adjustments to benefit balances.
Your firm must be licensed for the
Staff Management
module and must have set up administrative activities as accruable benefits or turned on comp time for staff.
Use this procedure to make manual adjustments to accruable benefit balances. For example, if accruable benefits are implemented during a benefit year, you can enter beginning balances for staff members.
  1. Open the
    Staff
    setup screen.
    Choose
    Setup
    Staff
    .
  2. Select the
    Benefits
    tab.
  3. Select a staff member and select
    Edit
    .
  4. Open the detail window for the benefit that you want to adjust.
    Select the
    More
    button for the benefit.
    note
    You can make adjustments only for benefits that are turned on for the staff member. To turn on a benefit, select its checkbox.
  5. Enter the adjustment dates.
    In the first available row of the detail window, enter the
    Sheet date
    and
    Date
    values using the fields provided.
    Change the default dates if necessary.
  6. Select or confirm the adjustment description.
    The
    Description
    field is filled automatically with
    Manual Adjustment
    .
    For comp time adjustments, you can select one of the following values:
    • Earned
      to add to the amount of comp time earned by the staff member.
    • Used
      to subtract comp time used by the staff member.
    • Manual Adjustment
      to make an adjustment that is unrelated to regular comp time accrual or use.
  7. Enter the adjustment amount.
    In the
    Hours
    field, enter the amount of the adjustment as a positive or negative number to be added to the existing balance.
    note
    For
    Used
    comp time adjustments, enter a positive number. The hours are subtracted from the balance.
  8. Save the adjustment.
    Select
    OK
    .
    You can use the
    View
    field at the top of the window to filter entries and display all entries, current benefit year entries, or benefit-year-to-date entries.
  9. Save your changes to the staff record.
    Select
    Enter
    .
The selected accruable benefit balance is updated for the staff member.
