Grouped returns controller experience

The linked video shows you a typical experience from the perspective of the controller when received through
Grouped Returns
.
  1. You will receive an email from noreply@safesendreturns.com. Select
    Let’s Get Started
    to open the group of returns.
  2. Select
    Get Started
    to continue.
  3. Select
    Send Code
    to generate an access code. This code is sent to your email address or mobile device, depending on your firm's settings. The code is valid for 20 minutes, until you use it, or until you generate a new code.
  4. Retrieve the code from your email inbox or mobile device.
  5. Enter the code and select
    Confirm
    .
  6. This is the landing page for your returns. Select the
    contact
    button to see the contact information for someone at your tax firm.
  7. Select your name to edit your profile or sign out.
  8. Use the column headers to search or filter your returns.
  9. Review the
    Signature Status
    ,
    Next Payment Due
    , and
    K-1 Distribution Status
    columns to determine which returns require action.
  10. Select the
    Action
    menu, then
    Email Documents
    to forward part or all of the return to a third-party.
  11. Select one or more documents, enter one or more recipient email addresses and optional mobile numbers, and select
    Send
    . They receive only a PDF copy of the selected documents and are not prompted to sign, pay, or perform any other action.
  12. Select
    Open
    to begin the client experience for that return.
  13. This is the landing page for your return. A summary of your refunds and payments due is available in the left panel.
  14. Select the
    contact
    button to see the contact information for someone at your tax firm.
  15. Select your name to edit your profile or sign out.
  16. You can also sample the steps required to complete your return. For entity returns, you will also see a K-1 distribution step.
  17. Select
    Get Started
    to begin.
  18. Review the message from your tax firm and select
    Next
    .
  19. If an invoice was included with your return, it is displayed at the beginning of the review step. You may see an option to
    Pay Now
    , which directs you to your tax firm's payment site. You may be required to pay before continuing.
  20. Once the invoice has been reviewed or paid, select
    Next
    .
  21. You can review each section of your return by selecting the section name in the left panel. Within the section, you can scroll down, use the navigation arrows at the top, or use the bookmark panel on the right to move through the pages.
  22. If attachments were included with your return, you are re-directed to a new page. Select
    Notes
    to see instructions from your firm.
  23. Select
    Download
    or
    Download All
    to retrieve the documents.
  24. You can also
    Forward
    or
    Download
    documents in the Review section.
  25. To forward, select one or more documents, enter one or more recipient email addresses and optional mobile numbers, and select
    Send
    . They receive only a PDF copy of the selected documents and are not prompted to sign, pay, or perform any other action.
  26. To download, select one or more documents and select
    OK
    , or select
    Download All
    .
  27. Select
    Next
    to continue.
  28. Depending on your firm's settings, you may see options to eSign, manually sign, or delegate signing. This video demonstrates the e-signing process. Select
    e-Sign
    to continue.
  29. Enter or verify your
    Date of Birth
    for 1040 returns.
  30. Select the consent to
    e-Sign
    checkbox.
  31. If there is a spouse on the return, enter or verify their email address, and select
    Next
    .
  32. For some 1040 returns, you are prompted to answer
    Knowledge-Based Authentication
    questions before signing your return. Answer 3 of 5 questions correctly to continue.
  33. Select the
    Start
    flag to begin.
  34. Select the green
    Signature
    block.
  35. You can enter or draw your signature, then select
    Apply
    to sign the form.
  36. Select the
    Next
    flag to be guided to the next signature field.
  37. Select the green
    Signature
    block to apply your signature.
  38. As the pages are signed, they are checked off in the left panel.
  39. Continue to select the
    Next
    flag to be guided to any additional fields.
  40. Once all fields are completed, select
    Next
    to continue.
  41. Double check or update your spouse information.
  42. Select
    Next
    to finalize signing.
  43. If paper file returns were included with your return, you will see another message from your tax firm. Review the message and select
    Next
    to continue.
  44. Select to print or download your paper file return.
  45. Select
    I Consent
    to access the forms. Select
    Skip
    to move to the next step without printing or downloading your paper file returns.
  46. For entity returns, you can distribute your K-1s electronically or download the packages to print and mail them. To deliver them securely via email, select
    Send Electronically
    .
  47. Select
    Edit
    to enter the K-1 recipient email address or edit other profile information.
  48. Use the fields in the
    K-1 Partners Details
    window to make changes.
  49. Clear the update notification checkbox if you don’t want to send an information update notification to your firm.
  50. Select
    Save
    to apply any changes made.
  51. Mark the checkbox next to the K-1s to be distributed, or use the select all checkbox to check all K-1s.
  52. Select
    Email Documents
    to deliver the packages.
  53. Come back and review the
    Status
    column at any time to see if the K-1s have been downloaded. The statuses here have updated to
    Sent
    because the packages have been delivered.
  54. Select
    Download All K-1s
    to download all packages into 1 PDF. Select
    Download Selected K-1s
    to download selected packages as separate PDFs.
  55. Large downloads are sent to your
    My Downloads
    folder in your profile.
  56. Select the
    Download
    arrow to complete the download.
  57. Select
    Next
    to continue.
  58. This is the pay section. You'll see any payment vouchers that were included with the return.
  59. Adjust your automated reminder settings as needed.
  60. Select
    Pay
    .
  61. You have the option to pay online or download the voucher and filing instructions. Select
    Pay Now
    to be directed to the taxing authorities website.
  62. Select
    Add Payment Details
    .
  63. This is for record keeping purposes only. This doesn’t initiate or verify that any payment has been made to the taxing authority. Select
    Done
    to continue.
  64. Enter payment details and select
    Add Payment
    to save any changes.
  65. The voucher is marked as
    Paid
    . You can edit this anytime by selecting
    Edit Payment Details
    .
  66. You can download all your vouchers and filing instructions here. Select
    Next
    .
  67. This section has your
    Estimated Tax Payments
    , broken up by date in the left panel. You have the same payment options available.
  68. Select
    Done
    after reviewing or paying your vouchers.
  69. You are directed back to your return dashboard where you can go back to your vouchers section, review or distribute your K-1s, or view or download your documents. Select the
    Contact
    button if you have any questions or concerns about your return.
