Grouped returns: controller experience

The client can follow these steps to access all the returns sent to them via grouped returns.
note
All signing and voucher reminder notifications will be sent to the controller.
Accessing Your Grouped Returns
Initial Email
The controller receives an email with a link to the designated return.
  1. Select the access link to get started.
  2. Select
    Contact
     if you have any questions for the firm.
  3. Select the
    Get Started
     tab to go to
    Authentication
    .
  4. Select
    Send Code
    .
    • The message will state whether the code is being delivered to your email address or your phone.
      • Email Access Code:
         An 8-digit access code is sent to the same email address as the initial email was sent to.
      • Mobile Access Code:
         A 6-digit access code is sent to your cell phone via text message.
  5. Enter the 6 or 8-digit access code in the code field.
  6. Select
    Confirm.
Controller Dashboard
The controller can sort returns using the column headers or perform actionable items for each return.
  1. Use the filters to sort through the returns that are displayed.
  2. Select
    Open
     to work through the Client Experience (review, sign, distribute K-1s, and pay).
  3. Select
    Download
     to download signed e-file forms.
  4. Select
    Email Documents
     to forward a PDF copy of the return to a 3rd party.
    • The recipient won’t be prompted to sign, distribute K-1s, or pay. They’ll only receive a PDF copy of the return.
  5. Select
    Contact Person
     to retrieve contact information for the firm.
  6. Select Screen Share to give your tax preparer access to your screen.
    • Communicate with your tax preparer to use this feature.
Spouse Signature
There will be 2 options to sign the spouse's return. These options are part of the
Sign
 step of the Client Experience.
  1. Mark the
    Sign on behalf of spouse
     checkbox to let the controller sign for the spouse.
  2. You can also enter the spouse's email address to send an signature link to the spouse.
  3. Select
    Next
     to proceed to signing.
Follow these steps to send a reminder to the spouse.
  1. Find the return from the dashboard.
  2. Select
    Open
     for the landing page for the return.
  3. Select
    Send Reminder
     to send a signing reminder to the spouse.
