Signer delegation: signer experience

When the taxpayer selects Signer Delegation, the delegate receives an email notification. This email contains an access link. The signing experience is very similar to the taxpayer's but they’ll only have access to the e-file forms, not the rest of the return.
Authenticate
  1. Select on
    Let's Get Started
    to access the signing documents.
  2. Select
    Send Code
    for authentication.
    • A code is sent to your email OR your phone number. The verbiage on this screen states where it was sent.
  3. Enter the Access Code and select
    Confirm
    .
Sign Documents
  1. Select
    Get Started
    .
  2. A note appears from the taxpayer. Select
    Print
    if you would like to save this message.
  3. Select
    Next
    .
  4. Select the
    Start
    flag to be led to your first signature line.
  5. Select the green
    Signature
    block to open the
    Add Signature
    window.
    • Continue to select the Next flag as you proceed through each signature.
  6. Select
    Type
    or
    Draw
    to choose your signature type.
  7. Select
    Apply.
  8. Select
    Next
    to continue.

If the return is a 1040, the signer is required to enter their personal information and pass Knowledge-Based Authentication before they can eSign the return. If they fail, they are directed to print the documents and manually sign the return.
Decline to Sign
The delegate can decline to sign. Once they decline, the link is rendered invalid and they can no longer access the documents.

, they'll get a message saying they've declined signing the document and the link isn't valid.
