Supported extension types
Extension return types and supported tax applications compatible with Extensions, along with the tax years supported for each return type.
This article contains an up-to-date list of extension return types (and their generating tax application) that you can upload into Extensions.

A federal extension form must be a part of the extension package. If the federal form is not present, your return will be marked with a status of NON-SUPPORTED or ERROR.
Federal forms for return types include:
- Individual extensions (1040): Form 4868
- Entity extensions (1041, 1120, 1120-S, 1065): Form 7004
- Nonprofit extensions (990): Form 8868
