UltraTax CS® organizer and engagement letter print settings for Gather

Use these guidelines to configure your UltraTax CS® organizer and engagement letter print settings for a successful upload to Gather.
You can turn on the SafeSend integration in UltraTax CS® to generate the organizer with all requirements already in place. Alternatively, follow the legacy print settings options.
Print with the integration
This print option assembles and configures the organizer PDF with all SafeSend requirements in place. This integration is available for UltraTax CS® 2025 and later.
note
  • This generates a PDF copy of the organizer. It doesn’t upload the organizer to SafeSend Gather.
  • You can't customize the print collation at this time.
    • To customize the collation, follow the steps in the
      Print Without Enabling Integration
      section.
  • Don’t use borders. They’ll prevent the Document Request List from generating.
Turn on integration
  1. Select
    Setup
    .
  2. Select
    System Configuration
    .
  3. Go to the
    SurePrep & SafeSend Integrations
    tab.
  4. Mark the
    Enable SafeSend Integration
    checkbox.
  5. Select
    OK
    to save any changes.
Print Organizer
  1. Select
    File
    .
  2. Select
    Print Organizers
    .
  3. Select
    Printer
    .
  4. Select a physical printer from the dropdown.
  5. Select
    OK
    to save your selection.
  6. Select
    Clients
    .
  7. Choose an available client.
  8. Select
    Select
    to move the client to the
    Clients to print
    section.
  9. Select
    OK
    to save your selection.
  10. Select the
    PDF to file
    radio button.
  11. Clear the
    Password protect files
    checkbox.
  12. Mark the
    SafeSend
    checkbox.
  13. Select
    Assemble
    .
Print without enabling integration
note
  • Use default settings as a starting point to ensure the organizer prints correctly.
  • Don’t use Lite Organizers. This print type restricts certain pages needed to create the Document Request List.
  • Don’t use borders. Borders will prevent the Document Request List from generating.
  • You can customize the collation to include classic pages, but the
    General Lite Info
    page is required for upload.

  3. Confirm all selected settings are correct. Recommended selections:
    • Mask SSNs, driver's license, and state issued ID numbers with asterisks.
    • Print an Individual Engagement Letter.
    • Proforma custom questionnaire and cover letter selections (Screen Letter).
    • Print blank Client Organizer (for clients who don’t have proforma'd information).
    • Organizer delivery method: File (PDF).
Questionnaire settings

Don’t make the following changes to UltraTax CS® organizer questionnaires:
  • Don’t add or delete questions from the default set.
  • Don’t change the text style from the default settings (Times New Roman 11 PT).

Engagement letters (optional)
Follow these steps to include engagement letters in your UltraTax CS® organizers.
note
The engagement letter must be the only page included in the Action Items PDF.

    Include in blank Organizer
    checkboxes.
Print a single UltraTax CS ® organizer
note
When printing, you must select a physical printer. Don’t set the printer to

. This ensures that margins are set properly.

Print multiple UltraTax CS ® organizers
Assigning settings to clients
note
When printing organizers for multiple clients, UltraTax CS® limits your choices in the Print Organizers pop-up. Follow these steps to assign the correct settings to multiple client organizers when printing to PDF.

    Utilities
    Reassign Clients
    .
  2. Select clients whose organizers you want to print from the list.
  3. Select
    Select->
    . The clients move to the list on the right.
  4. Select
    Organizer delivery
    from the
    Category
    dropdown.
  5. Select
    File (PDF)

    dropdown.
