Default download options for Gather requests

Users can set the default behavior for downloading documents. Your options are to save immediately, queue the download to your
My Downloads
 area, or choose what to do each time.

Bulk downloads will send items to the
My Downloads
 folder, regardless of the
My Settings
 selection. When multiple files or large files are downloaded, they are directed to
My Downloads
 to let the user continue working while the files are downloaded in the background.
Set default download behavior:
  1. Select the
    Profile
     icon.
  2. Select
    My Settings
    .
  3. Select the
    Download Options
     dropdown then:
    • Download Now:
       Files download immediately to the location set within your web browser.
    • Download to "My Downloads":
       This downloads files in the background to a personal
      My Downloads
       area in Gather. Users can access this area by going to their profile icon and selecting
      My Downloads
      .
    • Prompt Me Every Time:
       A window appears asking whether to download the files immediately or queue them in the
      My Downloads
       area.
  4. Select
    Save
     to save any changes made.
My Downloads
The
My Downloads
 area in Gather lets users add documents in the background while continuing to work. This is helpful when downloading large or multiple files that may take a while. Gather assembles the documents in the background so users don't have to wait.
The
My Downloads
 window shows the user downloads that they’ve initiated. Each download is separated by an icon and a line.
  1. Select the
    Profile
     icon.
  2. Select
    My Downloads
    .
  3. Review
     information about the download, which includes:
    • Name of the generated ZIP file.
    • Date that the file was created.
    • Initials of the user who initiated the download.
    • Size of the ZIP file.
  4. Select the
    Download
     icon to download the ZIP file immediately.
  5. Select the
    Delete
     icon to delete the download.
  6. Select
    Clear All
     to remove all downloads from the
    My Downloads
     section.
  7. Select
    Download All
     to download all items from the
    My Downloads
     section.

  • Files in
    My Downloads
     are automatically removed after 30 days.
  • If Gather is still collecting and zipping files, a spinning circle appears and users can't download them yet.
