Review operating system and Outlook requirements to verify that Secure File Transfer is supported in your desktop environment.

Before installing Secure File Transfer, make sure that your computer and Outlook version meet the supported requirements to help avoid interruptions or errors.
To get the Outlook Add-in, refer to Download and Install the Outlook Add-in.

Outlook requirements

Use the full desktop version of Outlook®. Secure File Transfer is not compatible with the online or cloud version.
- Outlook 2016 or later
Outlook 2016 and Outlook 2019 compatibility depends on the license type in use.
- Volume-licensed Outlook 2016 and Outlook 2019 versions are not compatible with Secure File Transfer because they use Internet Explorer for Office web add-ins.
- Retail Outlook 2016 and Outlook 2019 versions can run the add-in because they use Edge instead of Internet Explorer.
