Automatic e-file integration

Submit eligible tax returns directly from SafeSend Returns with secure e-file integration for GoSystem Tax RS and UltraTax CS.

This integration lets users e-file tax returns directly from SafeSend Returns. This streamlines the e-file process. Returns no longer need to be exported from SafeSend and manually imported into GoSystem or UltraTax CS for e-filing.
E-file integration key capabilities include:
  • Direct E-File Submission
    : Trigger e-filing of completed tax returns from SafeSend Returns.
  • API-Driven Workflow
    : SafeSend Returns uses a cloud-based e-file API for validation, status checks, and submission.
  • Manual & Automatic E-Filing
    : Administrators can turn on manual or automatic e-filing after signature completion.
  • Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
    : Only authorized users can initiate e-filing.
note
  • Only returns uploaded using the
    GoSystem Tax RS Integration
     or
    UltraTax CS Integration
     are eligible for the e-file integration.
  • Integration requires a Premium Tier SafeSend account.
  • The e-file candidate in GoSystem or UltraTax CS must be ready to e-file and locked.
  • Non-validated returns can't be released.
  • Returns must have a valid locator ID in GoSystem® or UltraTax CS®.
Permissions
Users must be granted permission to access this feature.
note
Only System Admins can access the SafeSend
Account Management
 and
User Management
 sections.
Create a Custom User Group
  1. Select the
    Navigation Widget
    .
  2. Select
    Account Management
    .
    note
    A new tab opens.
  3. Select
    User Management
    .
  4. Select the
    User Groups
     tab.
  5. Select
    Add User Group
    .
  6. Enter the
    Name
     of the group.
  7. Enter a
    Description
    .
    note
    • This can be a general description of what roles this group has.
    • There is a character limit of 100 for this field.
  8. Select the
    Roles
     to apply to the group.
    • Apply only
      Tax Processing - Efile
       or create a custom group with additional permissions.
  9. Select
    Add Group
    .
Add users to the group
:
  1. Select the
    Navigation Widget
    .
  2. Select
    Account Management
    .
    note
    A new tab opens.
  3. Select
    User Management
    .
  4. Select
    Edit
     in the
    Actions
     menu of the user to be updated.
  5. the

     you created for the e-file integration in the
    User Group
     section.

     to save any changes made.
Turn on the Integration for GoSystem
The GoSystem account API and user credentials must be entered in SafeSend to turn on the integration.
note
Only System Admins have access to the
Product Settings
 section in SafeSend.
Register for the
GoSystem Developer Portal
 to generate a key.

    Navigation Widget

     on in the
    E-File
     section.
  5. Enter your GoSystem
    LoginID
    .
  6. Enter your GoSystem
    Firm
     name.
  7. Enter your GoSystem
    Location

  8. Enter your GoSystem
    API Key
    .
  9. Enter your
    Client Id
    .
  10. Enter your
    Client Secret
    .
  11. Select
    Authenticate
    .
Configuration
Your firm can automatically release e-file forms in GoSystem as soon as the documents are signed in SafeSend.
note
SafeSend is not responsible for filing errors or rejections when e-filing is initiated automatically upon signature completion.
  1. Mark the
    Automatic Send E-File
     checkbox (optional).
Turn on the Integration for UltraTax CS
The integration must be enabled in UltraTax CS before it is enabled in SafeSend.
note
If accessing UltraTax CS® from a server, the network administrator may need to complete these actions.
  1. Select the
    Setup
     menu.
  2. Select
    System Configuration. . .
    .
  3. Go to the
    SurePrep & SafeSend Integrations
     tab.
  4. Mark the
    Enable SafeSend Integration
     checkbox.
  5. Mark the
    Queue electronic files for transmission . . .
     checkbox.
    note
    This requires the creation of e-files when printing and applies to all clients.
  6. Select
    OK
     to save any changes.
note

Configuration
Your firm can automatically release e-file forms in UltraTax CS® as soon as the documents are signed in SafeSend.

  1. Mark the
    Automatic Send E-File
     checkbox (optional).
Manually release e-file forms
E-file forms can be released manually from the Delivered Returns dashboard. This can be done individually or in bulk.
Bulk E-File Release
:
  1. Mark the checkbox for the taxpayer's name.
  2. Select
    Release E-File
    .
Individual e-file release
:
  1. Select the
    More Action Items (...)
     icon.
  2. Select
    Release E-File
    .
Reporting
The
E-file Status
 column displays the current release status for the e-file forms in SafeSend. This doesn’t reflect the current e-file status in GoSystem or UltraTax CS.
  1. Select the
    Column Options
     button to enable/disable this column.
  2. Filter by
    E-file Status
     using the dropdown.
Troubleshooting
If the document release fails or displays an error, review the following troubleshooting steps.
Account and Settings
:
  • Ensure users have the SafeSend permissions as outlined previously.
  • Ensure the integration is enabled in your
    Product Settings
    .
Upload Requirements
:
  • Ensure the return was originally uploaded using the
    GoSystem Tax RS Integration
     or
    UltraTax CS Integration
    .
  • Currently, only 1120 and 1040 returns can be uploaded using the GoSystem Tax RS integration. Other return types can't be manually or automatically released from SafeSend.
GoSystem Status
:
  • The e-file candidate in GoSystem Tax RS or UltraTax CS must be ready to e-file and locked for it to be released.
  • SafeSend will prevent e-filing for non-validated returns and will display errors if the IRS rejects the submission or validation fails.
