Import current and prior-year tax returns from CCH Axcess into SafeSend Returns with role-based access and dashboard filtering.

This article provides instructions on how CCH Axcess users can print a return directly to Returns.
The integration works with returns for the current tax year or the previous tax year. Older returns can't be imported. All
Current Supported Returns
can be transmitted this way.
note
All CCH users can refer to the
Import CCH Axcess
dashboard, but only users with the
Role-Based Access
permissions can import returns (
Upload from CCH
). The options are grayed out for users who don’t have the permissions.
Returns must conform to our print settings guidelines.
This feature is only available for tax returns. It is not available for extensions or organizers.
Grant Users Permission in SafeSend
Administrators can create a User Group for the CCH Axcess integration and apply this permission to users. This will let them access the feature.
Create User Group

Enter a
Name
for the group.
Enter a
Description
for the group.
Select the
Tax Processing - Upload from CCH
role.

Add Group

Add Users to the Group
Select the newly created
Group
in the left panel.
Drag and drop users from the
Available Users
column to the
User in Group
column.
Select
Apply Changes

Connect CCH Axcess and SafeSend
Link your CCH Axcess account with your SafeSend account. This lets your returns be displayed in the
Import CCH Axcess
dashboard.

When a user connects CCH Axcess and SafeSend, all users with access to the
Import CCH Axcess
dashboard can access view and import the returns regardless of who is signed in. Only 1 user can be signed in at a time.

Dashboard Overview
The following functions and features are available in the
Import CCH Axcess
dashboard. The integration works with returns for the current tax year or the previous tax year.
Dashboard features
:
Select
Get CCH Returns
to refresh the queue and display all CCH Axcess returns.
note
If the return is already in the Import CCH Axcess dashboard, any changes/recalculations will override the existing entry.
Select
Import to SafeSend
to move selected returns to your
Send Tax Returns
queue.
Select the
Delete
icon to delete the selected returns from the import dashboard.
Select
Refresh
to reload your queue after applying or removing filters.
View the connection status and the currently signed-in user.
Search or filter using column headers.

Highlighted columns are pulled from CCH Axcess.

Sync Return
to resend the return to your
Send Tax Returns
dashboard.

This option is only available if the Import Status is
Completed
.
This doesn’t override a recalled return; it is treated as a new upload.

You can add custom
CCH Return Statuses
in CCH Axcess to help identify and filter returns to be imported.
Get CCH Returns
Use the
Get CCH Returns
option to send returns from your Tax Dashboard to the Returns import dashboard. You can choose which returns to pull into the Returns import dashboard using filters. Newly added returns are recalculated upon import.

Import Returns
There are 2 options to import returns. Follow the steps to send returns from the import dashboard to your
Send Tax Returns
queue.
Import New Returns
:
Select one or more returns in a
New
Import Status.
Select
Import to Safesend
.
Import Completed Returns
:
Locate a return in a
Completed
Status.
Select the
Sync Return
button to resend it to your
Send Tax Returns
queue.
Import Statuses
:
This status indicates whether or not the return has been sent to your Send Tax Returns dashboard.
New
- The return has been pulled from CCH Axcess™ but hasn’t been sent to your Send Tax Returns dashboard.
Completed
- The return has been successfully sent to your Send Tax Returns dashboard.
In Progress
- The return is being sent to your Send Tax Returns dashboard but hasn’t yet finished loading.
Depending on how many returns are imported at once, this process can take time to complete.
Feel free to go away from the page as the returns are being imported.
Failed
- The return couldn’t be imported to your Send Tax Returns dashboard.

To help prevent
Failed
import statuses:
Don’t password-protect returns in CCH Axcess™.
Don’t sign out during imports.
Make sure no other users are trying to sign in to the integration.
Don’t edit or move returns in CCH Axcess™ during imports.
