Lacerte integration

Use Lacerte integration to send supported tax returns directly to SafeSend Returns for faster, streamlined processing.

This article provides instructions on how Lacerte users can print a return directly to Returns.
This integration is not available for tax year 2022 and earlier.
The following return types are currently supported for tax year 2023 and later:
  • 1040
  • 1041 (must include K-1 schedules)
  • 1120
  • 1120S (must include K-1 schedules)
  • 1065 (must include K-1 schedules)
note
  • If single sign-on is enabled, you must have Admin permissions in
    User Management
     to transmit returns via Lacerte.
  • Only users with the necessary permissions can use the integration.
  • Returns must conform to our print settings guidelines.
Grant Users Permission in SafeSend
API access
:
Administrators can turn this setting on for all users in the account in the
Product Settings
. By selecting this option, you won’t need to create specific user groups.
  1. Select the
    Navigation Widget
    .
  2. Select
    Product Settings
    .
  3. Select
    General
    .
  4. Switch
    API Access
     to
    On
    .
Create a user group
:
Administrators can create a User Group to let select users access the Lacerte integration. Users will need the
API Developer
 permission to use the integration.
  1. Select the
    Navigation Widget
    .
  2. Select
    Account Management
    .
  3. Select
    User Management
    .
  4. Go to the
    User Groups
     tab.
  5. Select
    Add User Group
    .
  6. Enter a
    Name
     for the group.
  7. Enter a
    Description
     for the group.
  8. Select the
    API Developer
     role.
  9. Select
    Add Group
    .
Add Users to the Group
  1. Select the newly created
    Group
     in the left panel.
  2. Drag and drop users from the
    Available Users
     column to the
    User in Group
     column.
  3. Select
    Apply Changes
    .
Turn on SafeSend in Lacerte
Add SafeSend as an option in Lacerte.
  1. Select the
    Settings
    menu.
  2. Select
    Options
    .
  3. Select the
    Display
     tab.
  4. Expand the
    Miscellaneous
     menu.
  5. Select
    SafeSend
    .
  6. Select the
    right-facing arrow
     to move SafeSend to the Display section.
  7. Select
    Ok
     to save your changes.
Send Returns to SafeSend
Send a return
:
  1. Locate the return to be sent to SafeSend.
  2. Select
    Send Return
    .
  3. Enter your SafeSend
    username
    .
  4. Enter your SafeSend
    password
    .
  5. Select
    Sign In
    .
  6. Enter your
    Subscription Key
     (refer to the next section to locate key).
    note
    This will only need to be entered for the 1st return sent through integration.
  7. Select
    Submit
     to open a preview of the return.
  8. Select
    Send to SafeSend
     to send the return to your Sent Tax Returns queue.
Locate subscription key
:
  1. Select the
    Navigation Widget
    .
  2. Select
    Developer Section
    .
  3. Go to the end of the page.
  4. Select the
    Copy
     icon for either the
    Primary Key
     or the
    Secondary Key
    ; either can be used.
The key can now be pasted into Lacerte.
