Processing and delivery

Grouped returns and extensions let firms send multiple returns to a controller, CFO, or assistant. The recipient uses 1 link to access and manage returns.
note
Turn on knowledge-based authentication (KBA) for the controller in the
Delivery Options
 tab during processing if KBA is enabled in your firm settings.
Previously delivered returns can't be added to a group unless they are recalled and reprocessed.
Add returns or extensions to a group
Follow the instructions for submitting returns and extensions using your preferred method. New returns and extensions can be added to the group at any time.
Add return(s) or extension(s) to a group during upload step
  1. Select a
    Group Name
     for each return in the
    Upload Documents
     window.
  2. Select
    Submit
    .
Add return(s) or extension(s) to a group on the In-Process screen
Returns can be added to a group after upload by following these steps:
  1. Select the returns or extensions you need to add to a new or existing group.
  2. Select
    Group Actions
    .
    • Select
      Create New Group
       to create a new group for the returns OR
    • Select
      Add to Existing Group
       to add the returns to a pre-existing group OR
    • Select
      UnGroup Tax Return(s)
       to remove the group name.
  3. Enter or select a group name.
  4. Select
    Save
    .
Processing
Each return within a group should be processed as outlined in the Processing a Return or Extension article. These returns have the additional
Group Delivery
 tab during processing.
  1. Go to the
    Group Delivery
     tab when processing is complete.
  2. Switch
    Mark this return as "Ready for Delivery"
     to
    On
    .
  3. Select
    Process
     for the next return in the group that needs to be processed.
  4. Select
    Save & Close
     to return to the
    Tax Returns In Process
     dashboard.

If you select
Finish
, only the return In-process is delivered to the group.
Delivery

Use the
Group Name
 column to find returns within a group.
Once each return is marked as
Ready for Delivery
, the group of returns and/or extensions can be delivered. One or more returns and/or extensions can be delivered at once.
  1. Select the returns and/or extensions to be delivered with the group.
    • Returns and extensions without the
      Ready for Delivery
       status can't be delivered this way.
  2. Select
    Deliver Group
    .
  3. Select
    Deliver to Controller
    .
  4. Enter Controller information.
    • Name and email are required.
  5. Select
    Send
    .
