Download PDF
Generate and download an assembled PDF tax return instead of delivering it directly to the client.
Download PDF, also called Assembly Only, uses the recognition and assembly features in Returns to maintain consistent tax return assembly and workflow processes.
When enabled, an additional option appears when you select

, letting you download the assembled PDF tax return instead of delivering it to the client.Turn on Download PDF

Only System Administrators can access Settings.
- SelectSettings.
- SelectGeneral.
- Go toDownload PDF.
- Select the switch to turn on theDownload PDFoption.
- SelectApplyto save the changes.
Use Download PDF
- SelectFinishduring processing.
- Go to theDeliverytab.
- Select theDownload PDFoption.
- Select one of the following download options:
- SelectDownload Multiple PDF Filesto download the return as separate files for each of the following sections:
- E-file Forms
- Vouchers
- Invoice
- Transmittals
- Tax Return
- SelectDownload Single PDF Fileto download all sections as a single document.
- Drag and drop sections to change their order in the PDF.
- SelectSave as my default orderto save this order for future downloads.
- Optional: SelectNotify me by email when the file(s) are available for downloadto receive an email notification when the return is ready.
- SelectDownload File(s)to begin the download.
Status in delivered returns
When the download is complete, the return appears in the Delivered Returns dashboard with the status
Alternate Delivery
. This status remains until you upload documents, such as signed e-file forms, to the return from the action menu. The status then changes to Alternate and Uploaded
.Recall a downloaded return
- Select the ellipsis on the toolbar.
- SelectReprocess Returnfrom the dropdown.
The return moves to the
Send Tax Returns
section with the status To be Reprocessed
.
