Client Information
displays information that SafeSend Returns extracted from the submitted return. Review the information to confirm it was extracted correctly and make any necessary adjustments.When you finish reviewing, select
Next
to continue processing the return, Save & Close
to save your progress and close the return, or select a section number to go directly to that section.Refunds & Payments Due
The
Refunds & Payments Due
section breaks down payments and refunds into individual line items. Payments due appear in red and refunds appear in green. - SelectDeleteon a line item to remove it.
- Select the name of a line item (for example,Federal) to open the Refunds & Payments Due section and display that page of the return.

Only payment vouchers appear as amounts due. Estimated payment vouchers appear in the Transmittals and Vouchers tabs.
To edit a line item:
- Select theAuthority.
- In theRefunds & Payments Duesection, edit the following:
- Choose an authority from the dropdown.
- Mark an item as a payment or refund.
- Enter an amount due, overpayment, or applied amount.
- SelectUpdateto save your changes.
Add Refund
If SafeSend Returns doesn’t recognize an overpayment or applied amount, you can add it manually in the Add Refund section.
- SelectAdd Refund.
- Select theAuthoritydropdown to choose a taxing authority for the refund.
- Enter an overpayment amount in theOverpaymentfield.
- Enter an applied amount in theAppliedfield.noteSafeSend Returns automatically calculates the refund by subtracting the applied amount from the overpayment amount.
- SelectAddto save the refund.
Overpayments
The
Overpayments
section displays all overpayments, including those automatically recognized from the return and those you added manually. To edit an overpayment:
- Select theAuthority.
- In theRefunds & Payments Duesection, edit the following:
- Choose an authority from the dropdown.
- Mark an item as a payment or refund.
- Enter an amount due, overpayment, or applied amount.
- SelectUpdateto save your changes.
Return Information
The
Return Information
section displays the details entered when the return was uploaded. - Use theClient IDfield to edit the client ID.
- Select theERO / Signerdropdown to change the ERO or signer assigned to the return.
- Engagement Typeis read-only. SafeSend Returns recognizes this information automatically.
- Tax Yearis read-only. SafeSend Returns recognizes this information automatically.
- Select a differentOffice Locationif additional options are available for your user profile.
- Mark theMarried Filing Jointcheckbox to add or remove a spouse from the return (1040 returns only).
Taxpayer and Spouse (individual returns only)
The Taxpayer and Spouse sections display details on the taxpayer and their spouse. This information is recognized from the return, or carried over from a previous year's return or Client Management.
- Use theNamefield to edit the taxpayer's or spouse's name.
- Use theSSNfield to edit the Social Security number.
- Use theAddress,City,State, andZipfields to edit the mailing address.
- Select theDOBfield to edit the date of birth, or leave it blank for the taxpayer to enter.
- Use theMobilefield to add or edit a mobile number.
- Use theEmailfield to add or edit the email address for the return recipient. This field is required.
- Mark theDeceasedcheckbox to mark the taxpayer or spouse as deceased.
Entity (entity returns only)
The
Entity
section displays details on the client. This information is recognized from the return, or carried over from a previous year's return or Client Management.- Use theNamefield to edit the company name.
- Use theEINfield to edit the Employer Identification Number.
- Use theMobilefield to add or edit a mobile number.
- Use theEmailfield to add or edit the email address for the return recipient. This field is required.
