Step 1 – Link SMART Practice Aids engagements to Workpapers CS binders
There are two possible procedures to follow depending on whether you want to link a binder to a
new
or an existing
SMART Practice Aids engagement from Workpapers CS.Link a binder to a SMART engagement from Workpapers CS
- From theEngagement Bindersscreen in Workpapers CS, clickPPCto openPPC SMART Practice Aids Integrationtab.
- Click
icon below to launch Create New Engagementwizard from within SMART.If the Workpapers CS binder has not previously been associated with your existing engagements in SMART Practice Aids, theSelect New/Existing Engagementwindow appears with the following two options.
- Select the appropriate option:
- If you have created an engagement in SMART Practice Aids, but the client name or engagement name is different than the corresponding engagement in Workpapers CS, select theSelect an existing engagementoption.
- If you have not created a SMART Practice Aids engagement corresponding to the engagement binder in Workpapers CS, selectCreate a new engagement.
- ClickOK.
Depending on the option selected above, perform one of the following procedures:
Link a new SMART Practice Aids engagement to Workpapers CS

SMART Practice Aids engagement to Workpapers CSIf you selected
Create a new engagement
option, Create Client Engagement
wizard from SMART will be displayed on the screen. - On the first page of theCreate Client Engagementwizard, the client and engagement names will be pre-filled with the names of selected client/engagement binder in Workpapers CS.
- Enter anEngagement Date, select theEngagement Typeand clickNext.
- You will see the below page in theCreate New Engagementwizard. Here, select thePractice Aid Titleand thePractice Aids Modulesthat you wish to include in the engagement.noteThe option for using an external engagement management software will be automatically marked toYesandWorkpapers CSwill be selected as the external software by default.

- ClickNextand follow the prompts to finish theCreate Client Engagementprocess in the wizard. The new SMART engagement will then be linked to your selected Workpapers CS engagement binder.
- Next, go to Step 2 in the integration process.
Link an existing SMART Practice Aids engagement to Workpapers CS
existing
SMART Practice Aids engagement to Workpapers CSIf you selected
Select an existing engagement
option, the Open Engagement
window from SMART will be displayed on the screen.- In theOpen Engagementwindow, select the existing client engagement that you wish to link to the Workpapers CS binder.
- ClickOpen.This will link the selected SMART client engagement to your Workpapers CS binder. The SMART engagement will be visible in theEngagement Bindersscreen within Workpapers CS.
- Next, go to Step 2 in the integration process.
