Import a journal
The Import Wizard enables you to import debit and credit values (such as a trial balance) from multiple entities across multiple financial periods into the system.
The Import Wizard has 3 main steps:
- Access the Reporting Entity you want to create a journal for and open a financial period.
- Go toJournals,Import.
- Drag or browse for a file and then selectNext. Valid file types include .xlsx, .cvs, and .txt.
- Choose your options inSelect Import Settingsand thenNext.
- Map your source data on each tab.
- In theHeadercolumn, place a checkmark in the row containing the header information.
- Select a field type in each column that can be mapped to the columns from your spreadsheet.
- Ignore - You can specify which columns to ignore. For example, if the trial balance file has blank rows, subtotals, or sub-headers, you can exclude these columns from the data upload by selectingIgnore. Make all header selections.
- Account Code -Exclude accountsdisregards blank rows and subtotals in the trial balance, and other information you choose to exclude from the upload.Import account codes if zerovalue specifies whether accounts with zero balances are imported (when selected) or disregarded (when not selected).
- Account Description - This can be the first or last one in the source file; used when duplicate account codes exist in the source file.
- Amount - Enter field information and selectSave.
- SelectNext.
- Make your selections on theClean datascreen.
- Select a line item and thenAddto ignore the account. The accounts are moved to the ignored column. Accounts in the ignore column won't be imported.
- SelectImport.
- If errors appear on theCompletescreen, you can make corrections or just make note of the errors. SelectContinue.
- Review the attached journal.
