Step 6 - New Form Review (NFR)
New Form Review
(NFR) wizard enables source documents to be associated with a proforma input Form.For instance, Form W-2 U.S. National Bank is proforma and the current year source document has Form W-2 from U.S. National Bank. In this case, this step will let you define the relationship between the proforma input form & the matching source document.
All unmatched source documents appear in the
Unmatched Documents
window and all proforma input forms appear in the Proforma Input Form
window.Source documents appear in the
Unmatched Documents
section only if the form category for that source document has proforma forms that appear in the 'Proforma Input Forms' section.
For instance, say we have received Form 1099-INT from Bank of America in the current year and the input form IRS 1099-INT for Merrill Lynch is proforma in the Interest income category; then the source document for Bank of America interest appears in the Unmatched Documents section. If there were no forms proforma in the tax application for the interest income category, the current year source document 1099-INT from Bank of America won’t appear in the Unmatched Documents section.
Single-instance forms and multi-instance forms will be displayed as proforma’d form in the
New Form Review
wizard. You would be able to associate the unmatched form under them, resulting in generation and export to the correct line item.

You will see the shortcut keys.
You don’t have to match these documents to proforma’d input forms every year. It will get associated automatically if the document comes with the same description as the current year.
In the New Form Review wizard, source documents may automatically get associated with a proforma Input Form.
Mark the
Show source documents automatically matched to proforma
checkbox to expand the Proforma Input Forms tree.note
If source documents are matched to the proforma input forms automatically by the system and no additional documents are to be matched manually in this step (that is, no source documents appear in the Unmatched Documents section); the checkbox
Show source documents automatically matched to proforma
appears auto-checked when this wizard opens.You will be able to view the forms to which source documents are automatically matched.
You can change the automatic association by selecting the source document and selecting the arrow button to remove a page, to move it in the
Unmatched Documents
section.
You can then drag and drop it or use the arrow button to add a page and to associate it to the correct proforma Input Form.
If the proforma input form name is not the same as the source document name, then you can change the name of the proforma input form after associating the respective source document to it.
To change the name of the proforma input form, right-click on it. This will show the option
Edit Form
.
Select the
Edit Form
option to find the pop-up. Edit the name of the proforma input form then select Save
.
The proforma input form name now matches the document name.
If you resubmitted the document with additional documents (e.g, Add Documents), then on a subsequent submission you can view the prior submission pages in the New Form Review wizard. Select the checkbox for
Show source documents automatically matched to proforma
. The prior submitted pages will appear with the PS
icon (in red font) next to them.
You can't disassociate prior submission pages from the
Proforma Input Forms
panel, however, you can change the association for the current submission.
To open the source document, double-click on the document. This will open the document in a separate window:
The
New Form Review
wizard will appear for subsequent submission only if it meets the following 2 conditions:- There are unmatched documents left unassociated by the system.
- There is a prior submission document and a document for the current submission matched to that input form.
All the source documents that remain in the
Unmatched Documents
section are added as a new line item in the tax application.If the Unmatched Document is being associated to a proforma Input form which is not a possible proforma Input form, then the following message will be displayed.

Search
Using the search feature helps you save time when you have a really long list of Form Name/Type. You can also use the search field over each panel to quickly search the match from the list. Matched Form Name/Type is highlighted in yellow.

For Consolidated 1099 documents, if the default tax form setup is ‘Consolidated 1099 forms’ but the proforma input forms are in the 1099-INT/1099-DIV forms, then the Consolidated 1099 documents won’t show up in the New Form Review step. Matching can only be completed, or reviewed, across the like kind proforma input forms. The Consolidated 1099 documents can't be matched to individual 1099 INT/DIV forms if the default option is for ‘Consolidated 1099 forms’.
Update field value
If you erroneously made a verification error in the
Step 2 Verification
wizard then you now have the ability to correct the field or value in post verification wizards like Superseded Documents, CFA (Child Form Association), Duplicate Data, NFR (New Form Review), and Tax Exempt Income.To update the field in post verification wizards, double-click the document to view the source document in the Document Viewer window.
Right-click the field that you want to update, then select
Edit
on the shortcut menu.
On the
Edit
window, select or enter the correct value then select Save

Mark document as Prior Year
If you erroneously forgot to mark the page a prior year document in
Step 2 Verification
wizard then you have the opportunity to mark the documents as prior year document in post verification wizards like CFA (Child Form Association), NFR (New Form Review), and Tax Exempt Interest.Double-click the document to view the source document in the Document Viewer window.
On the new window, select
Mark as PY
to correct the document as a prior year document. 
On the confirmation window, select
Yes
to mark the page as a prior year document.

Once deleted, the data can't be restored.
Prior Year Information in SPbinder
In SPbinder, documents marked as a prior year document will appear in
INDEX TREE > Prior Year Information
.
Merge form
During the verification process, some multi-page documents may have been separated into multiple document sets due to the identifier fields (SSN, Payer's Name, EIN, Ownership code, Account Number) being mismatched from 1 page to another. In the NFR step, you can merge split documents back into a single document form.
To select documents from anywhere in the list, press
Ctrl
+ select the documents you want to highlight. Release the Ctrl
key after you have selected all the documents. You can only merge documents with the same form type. For example, If you have multiple unmatched Schedule E from the same entity (for example, TNT Partnership) then select them all using the CTRL
key.

You can highlight documents in order. Highlight the 1st document, press the
Shift
+ up/down arrow button.Right-click one of the highlighted documents, select
Merge Form
.
On the
Merge Documents
window, select the parent document that the other documents should be merged with. All selected documents will adopt the identifier fields (SSN, EIN, Payer's Name, Account Number) from the parent document.
Select
Merge

On the
Merge confirmation
window, select Yes
.

Once merged, Identifier fields from the parent document will override identifier fields information from the other selected documents.
Mark as Superseded
You can supersede documents in the New Form Review (NFR) step. Certain documents may not trigger the Superseded wizard step due to minor differences (for example, missing account number), having the ability to supersede documents in NFR lets you make the correction when needed.
To mark the document as
Superseded
, right-click the document name, then select Mark as Superseded
. Documents marked as superseded in NFR will show '(Superseded)
' at the end of the document name.
To undo/remove the document as
Superseded
, right-click the document name, then select Remove Superseded
.
You can also supersede/unsupersede documents in bulk by selecting multiple documents. To select documents from anywhere in the list, press
Ctrl
+ select documents you want to highlight. Release the Ctrl key after you have selected all the documents.
Alternatively, you can highlight documents in order. Highlight the 1st document, press the
Shift
+ up/down arrow button.
