Roll forward workpapers

SPbinder allows you to roll forward workpapers into the next period’s binder (for example, roll forward from 2022 tax year to 2023 tax year). Rolling forward workpapers can be helpful when a document in the current year's binder may be useful during the extension season or in the next year's binder. Once your documents are marked to roll forward, you won’t need to Roll forward binders manually in the following period, SurePrep will automatically check for certain criteria (SP Client ID, SSN, EIN) and roll forward the necessary data.

Rolling forward workpapers

Right-click the workpaper you want to roll forward, then select
Mark Roll Forward
on the shortcut menu.
Rolled forward workpapers will be indicated with an arrow.

Mark Roll Forward
.
If you have selected a workpaper to roll forward erroneously and don’t want to roll it forward, right-click on that workpaper again, then select

.
In the following year, the workpapers you marked to roll forward will be seen in the
Prior Year Workpaper
folder in
INDEX TREE
.
Workpapers will roll forward Linked Notes, Sticky Notes, and Cross-references (if both the workpapers that were being cross-referenced are rolled forward).
Continuously roll forward each period
If you want to roll forward the same workpaper each year after year, then you can create a permanent note and then link that note to a workpaper. Notes type must be selected as
Permanent
